Work Text:
When you laid down belly up it
felt like a goodbye:
held with tears and told
you were so good and
it was not your fault,
you were sick and there was nothing
left to do
You lie down belly up and it
feels like dying, a sacrifice
no one wants to watch:
ribs jutting out under pale yellow skin
bruised and gashed and panting and ugly
Revealing your softness now is betrayal,
accepting affection now is defeat
to hide your fangs and claws
to snap your jaw shut around nothing
to swallow your own drool and
to let your sickness put you down
