Summary
Robby rocked the bike forward, just an inch, testing. Langdon didn’t move, other than a slow sway side to side, moving his weight from the ball of one foot to the other. He already had his hands up at his shoulders, palms towards Robby like the older man was pointing a weapon at him—which they had both seen enough vehicular injuries to know he was. But he knew his mentor wouldn’t do anything that could actually hurt him; that wasn’t part of his particular sickness.
“Let’s just go back inside for a minute. Let me say my piece. Don’t you think we owe each other that?” Langdon said, his brow furrowed, the last phrase coming with a bitterness he hadn’t intended.
Robby’s eyes rose almost imperceptibly from the glower he’d been holding for minutes, seemingly trying to conjure some protective barrier between him and his former protégé.
“You think I still owe you something?”Everyone knows Robby's planning to do something stupid on his sabbatical. Langdon wishes he wasn't the only one with enough guts to say something.
