"When his mom got a call from Joyce inviting him and Nancy to spend Christmas with their family in California, it was an offer he couldn’t convince himself to resist. Still, though, there were moments where he really, really wished he had said no, because since that call there hadn’t been a single moment where he wasn’t at least a little bit terrified for his life."
When Mike realizes he has feelings for Will, the universe is kind enough to give him distance to process, as Will is moving to California the very next day. But when Mike is invited to spend Christmas with the Byers, he is thrust into close proximity with Will before he has time to accept the fact that he is NOT getting over this boy. Now, Mike must come to terms with who he is, how he feels, and WHAT THE HELL he is going to do about it, all before his head explodes right off of his shoulders.
