Summary
Eren’s finished his breakfast suspiciously quickly, scarfing down fistfuls of fruit with his hands like a troglodyte. Armin doesn’t mind, though. He likes their slow weekend mornings: Bean the little orange cat nuzzling into his side, the smell of strong coffee in the air, the tinny radio playing blues music neither of them object to.
“Armin,” says Eren. “How would you like to go on a hot air balloon ride with me?”
Armin, absentmindedly, still pets Bean while trying to put a forkful of fruit inside his mouth; he misses. Splayed in front of him is a book on medieval paintings of cats, and of course, that’s more important right now. “Yeah, that’d be cool,” he says.
He feels the energy in the room shift, change. Eren’s staring at him, deadly serious. He’s wearing his one black Going Outside cardigan. Armin’s hand stills; the cat stops purring and jumps off his lap, indignant, with a mewl. Armin’s now looking into Eren’s serious, sweet green eyes.
“I mean, how’d you like to go on a hot air balloon ride with me right now,” says Eren.
