Wine, Wine, Wine

Summary:

She doesn’t remember; she can’t remember; I made the potion myself.

Hi! This is just something I dug out of google docs to test how posting works on here! Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy it!

Work Text:

Her body drapes over the chaise longue. Her fingers brush rippling rivulets into the velvet. “Sometimes I feel like there’s something going on~” A giggle escapes from her mouth, and her eyes stop drifting aimlessly long enough to look at me. I meet her gaze. It’s like looking at a wall of mountain fog. My heart clenches but it had to be done. “Sometimes…” Finally, an expression flickers across her face. “…I swear there’s something I’m meant to know? Everyone’s acting like I’ve forgotten something.” Her eyelids flutter shut. “Ain’t anyone got any respect for their elders?” Air skids across my tongue and hits the back of my throat. My lips form several shapes in quick succession.
“Just… get some rest, Julie. You always hear everything before us, you know that.” I used to suspect she was psychic: she found out so much before I noticed. “It’s just wine or something.” She hums a bouncing tune, body melting into plush cushions as she starts dozing off again.
“Wine, wine, wine, he says, yet I don’t recall any wine, but I suppose, these days, what I recall and what I can’t is hardly the issue.” She laughs. My eyebrows furrow. It’s been done. How is she catching on? Even Liam believes it’s simply Alzheimer’s. She doesn’t remember; she can’t remember; I made the potion myself. “…Sweetness, did you blow the city up or something? You know you can tell me anything, right?” Her eyes briefly flick open before dropping again. “Oh, honey, honey, sweet summer bunny, what have you done?”
