Summary
Max should have known. He really should have noticed something earlier, weeks ago, really, but he also knew that now it was too late to think about what he should have done differently. Now, he was lying in bed, legs spread out, with Charles' hand resting heavily on his stomach, trying not to think about what had just happened.
Charles had been building this for weeks, and on some level, Max had known what was coming, even though he had not wanted to admit it. The hydration tracking had started as a game Max thought he was winning—forgetting bottles, leaving them standing around in the garage, still full, just to feel Charles' attention sharpen, just to be managed by the other. It had spiced their newly found relationship up in just the right way, or so Max had thought.
Because, apparently, Charles didn't play games.Or: Where Charles makes sure Max drinks enough, but does not check whether he will make it to the bathroom at the right time.
