So when Apollo stepped out of line by allowing his arrogance to blind himself and releasing the prophecy prematurely, Zeus knew Apollo had forced his hand. Allowing such defiance and vanity to run rampant was unacceptable, especially since it had already led to Gaea’s rise. In truth, he supposed it was his mistake for growing soft and not spotting this problem earlier. This fracture in the order that made up Olympus that would hinder their power and one day doom them all.
