Chapter Text
“PAIMON DOESN’T WANT YOU TO LEAVEEE!!!” The poor fairy cried on her dear friend's shoulder that is now soaked in never ending tears. “Can’t Paimon come with you two?”
Lumine lightly sighed - a sigh that held softness and pain - as she brushed through Paimon's silvery white locks. Trying to comfort her first ever friend. (Well first friend from Teyvat to be more specific) Her heart can't bear the weight of leaving her behind — Even though she found her twin in the end, finished her journey, and helped him leave the darkside that is the abyss. The pain of leaving Paimon is too much to bear…
“ I’m afraid you cannot…It's dangerous out there. I don't want you getting hurt, okay?” She spoke softly, like how a mother would sooth their own child.
“But..But—”
“No ‘buts’. Me and Aether have thought this through, truly we did, making sure to take in mind all the dangers that this journey may face. But it seems that the negatives outweigh the positives…This is for your safety.” She delicately took one of her Inteyvat flowers out of her hair, to pin it onto her companion. As a souvenir. As a…final goodbye.
“ I promise. I will come back.”
“Tra..vel..er..” She whimpered, reluctantly letting go, finally accepting that they have to part ways. “..You better keep that promise. Paimon will never forget it.”
A small smile spread across Lumine's face, she too trying not to cry. Saying goodbye is always difficult - even much so to someone who is like family - but unfortunately goodbyes are inevitable. No matter how much you truly deny it. Life must always go on.
“Goodbyes don't always mean that we won't reunite once again.”
Or… so I hope…
“Therefore, I shall see you again, My dear Paimon. I don't know when or where, but I do know for certain, we *will* reunite. Okay?” She chuckled, trying to keep the mood light to shatter this already heavy burden. But all her effort goes to waste—nothing can stop her tears.
Was it happy or sad tears? Who knows. Every farewell ends with it.
“Hey Lumi? Are you ready? If you need more time I could wait a little longer. We still have time after all.” she hears her Brothers' cheery yet solemn voice. He knows how hard this is.
The ship was ready. He was ready. But was she ready?
“I’m ready, but thanks for the concern.”
This was it. It was time to start a new journey, together, with her brother. Physically leaving her past friends behind, but mentally keeping them in her heart.
Teyvat felt like home. And sometimes you have to leave, but you will always return.
