And lo, it came to pass that the four monarchs, sons of Adam and daughters of Eve, kings and queens of Narnia, had reigned a dashed long while. And by a dashed long while, I mean, wow. A decade and a half, going on for? Crikey. One boggles, a bit.
Along the way, there had been ups and downs. A great many upsides, and their reign was a joyful and a lovesome thing, God wot. But one can't have the cow minus the cowpats - ask any Narnian dairymaid. The Pevensie monarchs had their troubles, aye, along the way. Trifling, or middling so, most of them.
But then came the dreadful day that Peter was most sorely wounded. Not on the field of battle, mark you! How many skirmishes and border incursions and scenes of open war, had he marched from without so much as a scratch!
