Chapter Text
I’m Tsuru Fūma. I was born in the land of sound to the fūma clan. Specifically, the branch that didn't follow Orochimaru’s delinquent ideas. I’m six years old, and I'm leaving… leaving this village to protect them, to protect my family. I don’t want to, I'll miss my family, but with Orochimaru knowing where I live and the power I withhold. I can't stay. It's too dangerous.
I've been told I'm too mature for my age, but I don't think so. I feel as if I think about everybody's emotions, everyone's opinions, before I make my decisions. I think that's what makes me unique. I don't think I'm too mature, I think I'm too empathetic… That's my true weakness.
Tonight, the night I leave my family, my history, my loved ones and I start my journey to the hidden leaf. Far, far away from any danger. I say goodnight to my mother and father for the last time, the kiss I give them lingers softly. Longer than usual.
I slowly make my way to my bedroom, taking in my home, the memories, the love. For the last time… I walk into my room distracting myself, waiting until my parents go to sleep. Finally, after an hour, the last house light flickered off.
“Here I go,”
I whispered to myself, as I grabbed my bag filled with only a few changes of clothes, my childhood plushy that's slowly withering away, money, a little bit of water. And of course, a picture of my family.
I quietly slipped out the window into the dark, unpredictable night. I creep around my village, stopping at childhood shops, reminiscing about the past before I slip out the village's main gate like a slinky black cat, finally leaving.
Days went by, I finally arrived at the hidden leaf. I’m miles away from home, my loving home… Walking through the hidden leaf village, I can already tell it's more developed than the land of the sound. With bustling vendors, shops and crowded streets, I'm sure I'll find my spot in this village.
After asking a lady where the Hokage building was… as well as receiving a few weird stares. I slowly made my way towards the building, scared as to what to expect. What if they send me back? What if they don't like me? What if questions spewed through my head, making me wonder if I should turn back and walk all that way again? But I didn't. I step in, walk towards the Hokages door and knock.
After waiting a few seconds, I hear a raspy male voice call out. “Come in!”
I brace myself, take a few deep breaths and walk in. “Hello sir, I am Fūma Tsuru from the land of sound. I came to the hidden leaf in search of protection.”
I looked up, looking the Hokage in the eye. And seeing the visible shock on his face, makes me worry. He seems visibly shaken, struggling to find the words. Before he finally spoke up.
“F-Fūma clan? How old are you, dear?”
“I'm 6…”
“Oh god… dear god…” the Hokage whispered under his breath. His raspy voice creates breaks within the words.
“W—what happened? What's the problem, sir?” I state, now starting to freak out.
’M—Miss, I don't know how to tell you this, b-but a couple of nights ago… The Fūma clan got attacked. There were no survivors. I'm so sorry, dear.”
The news struck me, hard. Like a fist slamming right through my chest, ripping out my heart. My legs begin to shake, as I slowly fall to the ground, tears welding up in the rims of my eyes. Leaking out, dripping onto the floor. “Wh-what? No!” I bring my hands to my face, hiding my emotions behind walls.
That was my first day in the hidden leaf village.
