Work Text:
I kick the door open and bask in the
encompassing light.
Snow.
Powdered over my head,
silent on the roof.
It's mesmerizing.
Twinkling stars,
sweet as sugar.
I want to take a bite.
Enveloped in its embrace,
all my worries are numbed.
I close my eyes.
I have forgotten that something so sweet could bite.
My mom scolds me when I come home crying.
She tells me I shouldn't have stayed for so long.
But I can't help it.
The snow is just
so warm.
