Gem stood in her new dorm, breathless. She had just climbed up a flight of stairs all while carrying two large luggages. “Why did I think I needed ten thousand art materials…” Gem sighed to herself as she picked up a blue bottle from her bag, and an oval pill sat on her tongue as she washed it down with water. She stood up from the floor, and continued unpacking.
While unpacking, her phone buzzed. It was a message from the dorm manager. Gem had just gotten assigned a roommate. Pearl? I wonder what she’s like. Gem smiled before continuing to decorate her shelves. Gem’s side of the dorm looked like an artist’s dream. She could barely consider her desk a “desk” with the amount of art supplies found on it. Her walls had her paintings and sketches pinned onto it, and her bed was a safe haven. A green fluffy blanket, tons of pillows, and her most prized possession, a koala plush named Winston. Her room bloomed with many paintings on the wall, with plants nearly everywhere, and it was extremely clear Gem’s favourite colour was green. “I might have enough plants to have an ecosystem, but that's for the better. More oxygen is better than pollution anyway.” Gem thought to herself, chuckling as she cuddled her plushie.
While treading the halls, Gem could overhear people's gossip. “I heard her new roommate’s an angry one.” “Freakishly tall, too.” But Gem disregarded each rumour. “If I don’t know her personally, then I have no place to judge” was Gem’s mindset.
