“What’s up, Johnny Boy?!”
“Heyo, Don John!”
“Johnathan, how’s it going?!”
All various names you’ve given to Doctor Shen since meeting him. Shen didn’t mind it though, he thought it was funny and, to be honest, he loved the adorable grin on your face whenever you greeted him in such a manner.
The rest of the Pitt thought it to be unprofessional, especially Abbot. The older night shift attending always thought you were a little too informal with Shen.
But again, Shen didn’t mind it since, well, he was soft on you.
Then one day, you greeted him normally.
“Hey, Doctor Shen.”
That made him pause on drinking his usual iced Dunkin’, “You okay?” He asks.
You shrug, “Fine. Why?”
“You addressed me by my name.”
“I always do.”
He shakes his head, “No, not like that. You always greet me with some adorably weird variant of my name whenever you come in. And right now you just called me Shen. That’s it.”
You sigh and give another shrug, “I got a scolding from the higher ups. Said because I’m a nurse, I need to show more respect to the doctors.”
Shen scoffs and shakes his head, “That’s such bullshit. It’s not like you were harassing me or anything. Also, it’s demeaning to you, thinking that you’re lesser than us.”
“Aren’t I? I’m just a nurse-“
“You’re not though. Us doctors would be nothing without you guys.”
You softly smile at Shen, “Thanks…Johnny Boy.”
Shen grins widely, “There it is.”
“If you two are done flirting, Doctor Shen, I need your assistance in Trauma Three.” Doctor Abbot says with a stern tone causing both of you to straighten up.
Shen clears his throat, “Right! Yup! Following you!” He gives you a quick nod and scurries behind Abbot, hoping you don’t notice his cheeks turning red.
