Work Text:

Liyue Harbor holds one of the most astounding festival, that makes people all around Tevyat join in - the Lantern Rite Festival. There, it stands out many festivities, such as traditional opera, crafting, and the usual making of the Xiao Lanterns, who holds wishes from many people who crave for something; either it is freedom, or just acceptance. Mostly, it holds love letters.

... But today, it's one week before the festival. Gaming: the busiest guard and the one who's in charge of the main presentation before the set of lanterns - the Wushou dance - is, at the moment, holding himself by a thread. You, his partner, got into a pretty heated argument a day before. And he just wants one thing.

To Apologize.

But it didn't work out; at least, not today.

The climax is already thick enough to cut with a knife, as you stand there over the bridge, almost lifeless eyes staring into the lake that split Liyue Harbor and rural side. You slightly put your head up as you heard familiar footsteps behind you. It's Gaming, alongside his pet, Man Chai.

-".. So ," he starts, giving a exhausted sigh as he watched you turn your whole attention to him. "You know I didn't mean it like that. You're just distorting it."

Your gaze on him turns citric, as you narrow eyes and replies back with a tone sharp as nails.

-"Oh, I'M distorting it? Me?! You don't even think before you act!"
-"I 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 think before I act-!"
-"No. You just 𝘙𝘌𝘈𝘊𝘛. There's a difference! "

A few seconds of silence, as Gaming bats a worried look at Man Chai before landing his eyes on yours.

-" At least, I do something. " he retorted "You just stand there - thinking the issues will resolve magically!"
-"Better than hurting your own girlfriend without thinking twice."

Now, Gaming is the one with narrowed eyes. As he slightly shakes his head in disbelief.

-"..No I didn't."
-"Yes, you did!"
-"With YOU?"
-"YES!?"

You felt your voice rise with annoyance.

-"Do you think just some half baked apology is going to fix anything AT ALL-?!"
-"Well at least I'm 𝘛𝘙𝘠𝘐𝘕𝘎 to fix it?!"

You scoffed and rolled eyes, as Gaming straightened his back, having a slight frown across his face. He was 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘦 right now! - only if you weren't having such a heated argument..

-"Ok, well, " he tried to start, this time feigning a more calmer expression. "What's YOUR way Of resolving things, Little Miss Perfect? Do you think that the whole Tevyat revolves around you?"

You felt some cold, unusual rage rise against your own will. The Vision that was used as a trinket on your left hip started to glow, which made Man Chai only more scared. It was so off putting - yet, you couldn't control it. You can't control it.

-"Now I understand why your mother passed away. She couldn't stand you."

Those words. Those damned words. Felt like a entire meteorite, crushing against Gaming's whole body and soul. In a quick second, you realized the unbearable damage you've done, rapidly putting a hand over your mouth to cover, as if the words didn't came out yet.

-".. G-Gaming, I didn't mean-" you stammer. But it was far, too late.

-"No. At least, I 𝘏𝘈𝘋 a mom. Not someone who's trying to abandon me."

His tone was sharp. Sharp, quick, painful and revengeful. Like a dagger, stabbing your back over and over. Ouch. Your mother, the Lunar Adepti - wasn't that much of a present parent. And you knew that already.

-"Adepti are always like this: cold, cruel, and selfish. I'm leaving."

And with that, Ga Ming walks away, not even looking at you. Man Chai - who would usually just stay besides you until Gaming himself called him - only growled at you, before waddling back to his owner quickly as a mouse. Dang.
