Summary
"Would you miss me?" Henry asked, voice light, almost casual. "If I weren't here anymore."
Ralph's eyes narrowed. He pressed two fingers to his split lip, courtesy of an elbow during an earlier scuffle with some sixth-form lads who called them names, and winced.
"What the hell does that even mean?"
Henry shrugged. Started walking the narrow ridge of the roof, arms spread like he was balancing on a wire. Gravel and broken tiles skittered off under his trainers and rained down.
Ralph's stomach twisted, but he stayed seated, watching.
"Means exactly what it sounds like," Henry said. "One day you wake up, and I'm just... gone." He swept one arm in a dramatic arc, like erasing himself from existence. "Poof. No more Horrid Henry. No more screaming in corridors, no more starting fights I can't finish, no more being too loud, too angry, too bloody much for everyone. Out of sight, out of mind. Because I wouldn't exist anymore."
