Work Text:
The chocolates had been made with love and devotion. When Duang had delivered them, Qin’s friends suggested he bring treats for them too. So Duang brought them some store-bought snacks to their practice room.
“This is how it’s done,” Tong said with a smile. “A true Loverboy knows to butter up the friends too.”
Duang smiled as they enjoyed their food. “Na, can you tell me how to get closer to Qin now?”
He’d buy them snacks every day if that’s what it took for them to help him win Qin’s heart. Chips and baked goods and ice cream. It was a small price to pay.
“Hm,” Tong let out, already picking up a guitar. He strummed a few times. “Have you tried playing him a song? Can you play an instrument?”
Shaking his head, Duang said, “Uh uh.” He had already thought of that.
“Not everyone’s power lets them play any instrument, Tong,” Kim teased.
Tong stuck his tongue out, then, “How about singing?”
Another shake of the head and Tong looked out of ideas. It wasn’t Duang’s fault he wasn’t musically inclined! He wasn’t rich, so he couldn’t buy a skywriter. He didn’t know Qin well enough yet to get him material gifts, just sweets—and only if Qin would accept them. Qin had already told him not to put up stickers or cause problems for others while hitting on him.
Pouting, Duang laid his head on a music stand while Tong continued to absently strum the guitar.
“I think you’re doing fine as you are,” Kim said, a smiling softly.
Duang sat at attention, scooted his chair closer. “I am?”
A nod. Kim held up a hand as if feeling the air. “I can manipulate electric waves, right? Like in technology.” Tong and Duang nodded. “But that also means I can feel them around me. Humans give off electricity, too.”
Duang pat himself down, as if he could find the electricity coming off him.
“Sometimes, if someone is near enough, I can feel their heartbeat,” Kim revealed, looking self-conscious. “And Qin’s beats faster with you.”
Duang gave a blissful smile.
“He could be annoyed or angry,” Tong pointed out.
Duang whined.
“Tong, don’t be mean. You know Qin would tell him to stop if he didn’t like it.” Kim smiled at Duang. “Whatever you’re doing is already working, so keep it up.”
Duang beamed and saluted. “Absolutely!”
