" When Eren Jaeger had first made a brief disappearance from the pack, Jean had welcomed it. Outside of the Jaeger family he was one of the highest ranking Alphas in the pack, and with Eren missing in action it meant that he was finally getting the attention he felt he deserved. The omegas fawned over him instead of Eren, they hung on his every word and he had no trouble finding someone to take over his menial tasks for him. It had perhaps been the best week of his life.
When Jean had first approached Eren following his disappearance, it had hit him all at once. The reason for Eren’s sudden change of behaviour, the way he avoided attention that once seemed to fuel him, the way he jumped when Jean approached him. No amount of fancy medication that could be smuggled into the pack by Eren’s daddy could hide what Jean saw now— or rather what he could smell now.
