Chapter Text
Choi Sung-Woon didn't like surprises.
Surprises in games could always result in game over, and surprises in real life could always end with loss.
The worst was when both happened at the same time.
He recently lost his sister, which the news made him lose the competition he was in.
To stop surprises coming his way, he decided to isolate himself.
He bought the biggest house in a quiet gated community and stopped contacting both the family who wouldn't leave him alone and the teammates that talked behind his back.
His distance and quiet were what he needed.
He did not expect delivery at his door at all.
It was a normal day where he was just rotting away in his room, wondering if he should make something for him to eat or not, when his doorbell rang.
That immediately set him off.
He never told anyone where he was going and he made sure to block everyone he knew before coming to his new home.
The neighborhood also didn't really mind him, they seemed to have understood that he wasn't the chatty type and never bothered him, only checking once a week just to be sure he wasn't actually rotting away in his room.
But here's the thing, they came to check on him the day before.
He wondered if he should go or not before signing.
What if whoever was there was the type to start ringing like crazy after no one answered?
Getting up, he went to the front door to check who it was.
Only to be met with two boxes, a really big and bulky one and a tiny flat one on top of it.
He stared at the boxes for a moment.
He… didn't buy anything recently.
Or did he?
The past few weeks had been a blur to him, so maybe he did buy something and couldn't remember.
Well, he couldn't keep staring at it forever, he had to find a way to bring it into the house.
So he stared at, trying to find a solution.
Which brought the most awkward situation in his recent days.
He went to his neighbor's house and rang the doorbell.
It was a big guy that had some horse decorations on his house.
The guy was one of the people that would come check on him from time to time, which was how he learned his nickname.
Solongos.
Apparently the people in this neighborhood were quite friendly and had a habit of giving nicknames for each other.
Solongos appeared soon after rang the doorbell, a wide smile on his face.
“Hello! What may I help you-”
The man then froze at the sight of Sung-Woon.
“Oh? It's you… need anything?”
The man sounded surprised, but displeased.
Sung-Woon opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out.
Right, that was also a problem.
He hasn't been doing much talking since Ji-Woo, apparently her curse was more effective than she thought.
He simply gestured to his house, pointing at the large box, then lifted his sleeve, showing his thin arms.
“Want help to bring that into your house because it's too heavy for you?” The man asked
Sung-Woon nodded, which made the man smile.
“Of course!”
They soon went to Sung-Woon's house and Solongos helped him bring the big box to the biggest room of the house, where Sung-Woon kept his terrariums, while he himself carried the smaller one.
Ji-Woo used to like bugs, so he would help her raise some to watch.
Even now he still raised them to remind him of these times.
The man seemed fascinated by the terrarium and asked to take pictures, to which Sung-Woon allowed.
When everything was done, Sung-Woon thanked the man with a bow and a board game before he left.
Well, now was time to check out what was in that box.
***
It was a tranquil day on the community group chat.
Then someone said something that surprised everyone.
Solongos: Hey guys, you know that guy that moved in a while ago?
Lunda: The one only u and L saw the face bcs he never goes out?
Redmars: The rich guy who bought the biggest house in the neighborhood?
Bolt: The hermit?
Solongos: That one.
MC: Man just came into the neighborhood and never showed his face
Vladimir: Quite the mysterious guy.
AR1026: He's quite ominous, isn't he?
Chistka: What about him?
There was a moment of silence on Solongos' side, then he finally spoke.
Solongos: He came to my door today to ask a favor.
No one added anything to the chat for a while, then hell broke loose.
Lunda: He came out!?
Eldar: He spoke to u??
AR1026: That’s quite surprising.
Chistka: What kind of favor was it?
Solongos: He wanted help bringing in a box that was too heavy for him to carry.
Solongos: Got to see part of the house and he gave me a board game as thanks.
Bolt: ???
Vladmir: A board game?
Solongos: Yeah, one of these fancy ones Eldar always talk about.
Solongos: Was planing to give it to him later.
Lunda: What’s his house like?
Solongos: Pretty bear actually.
Solongos: The sad type of bare.
Lunda: Well, now that’s just anticlimactic
Redmars: Thought that a guy who buys a house that fancy would have a lot of fancy stuff.
Solongos: But he has a room full of terrariums though! It’s like a bug empire there!
Solongos: Even got some pictures!
Noah: I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED!
Noah: @Solongos Show me the pictures!
Solongos: Alright! Alright! Just calm down!
Solongos: Jesus! I can feel your eyes from here…
Solongos: Wait a moment, my doorbell rang.
Wisdom: @everyone Hey guy.
Wisdom: Did anyone else get some weird boxes on their front door?
Bolt: Weird boxes?
Lunda: No??
AR1026: I didn’t receive anything.
AR1026: Wait, there’s someone at my door.
Chistka: Huh? here too.
Solongos: Guys?
Solongos: Got someone at the door and went to see who it was and found the same giant boxes I helped my neighbor take inside his house??
Solongos: There was no one around too.
And, just like that, the quiet life in the seemingly normal neighborhood ends, giving place to new era of weird occurrences
