He could already hear the jokes Will was holding back from making upon his choice of words, and yet, even after being very well versed in this period of their relationship, he splayed his forehead on the desk as if to hide the redness in his cheeks from the walls. The walls that bore no support, no filter, or muteness, that let everything through with a lenient silence that oftentimes made him feel crazy. Their apartment should just be an open box with no division whatsoever, given how useless the walls were at blocking out sound. Mike could hear Will and the Guy of the Month going at it a little too clearly for Mike to ever be fully at ease past 9 PM.
