Chapter Text
I wanna go home.
Innovation Inc. said that it would have been the best for all of us if I moved into this new dimension along side P.AI.nter. Yet, if I gotta be honest? I missed my mom and siblings more now. The Inpherno, or whatever it was called, would NEVER be my home. Not until those damn morons got my family to move in here as well, yet they kept saying it was too dangerous for them to come along.
A knock at the front door snapped me out of my thoughts. Probably another curious Crossroads dweller. Everyone in this damned place knew about me and P.AI.nter by now. I snaked my way over to the door, not even caring if I seemed presentable or not. Not like I'm a 3 meter long fish experiment or anything. I'd open my door, the translator placed in my ear cavities immediately coming to life as my eyes met an Inphernal's eyes. Well.. Eye. The dude only had one.
"Hello," they began in a monotonous tone, "I've heard your a dimensional transfer. I never knew it was possible until recent."
I huffed out a laugh. "Yeah, you can imagine my shock when they presented the idea back at home."
I had a feeling I'd like this guy's presence, for whatever reason. They held out a hand for a formal handshake.
"The name's Medkit."
I'd reach out one of my own hands, grabbing theirs and shaking it.
"Sebastian Solace, but people just call me Seb."
"Hm. That's certainly a unique name, Seb," Medkit's head tilted slightly as they spoke. "Do you have any siblings?"
I'd nod. "Three, an older sister and two younger brothers. Though, the scientists back at Innovation say it's not safe for two of them to transfer over yet."
"Where's the third sibling, then?"
"He's.. A computer. A sentient computer."
That caused a small huff of laughter to come from Medkit.
"I have a brother of my own. Found family, but he's still my brother—"
"𝙈𝙀𝘿𝙆𝙄𝙏, 𝘾𝙈𝙊𝙉!! 𝙒𝙀'𝙍𝙀 𝙂𝙊𝙉𝙉𝘼 𝘽𝙀 𝙇𝘼𝙏𝙀!!" A voice in the distance cut them off. I let out a bark of laughter at the annoyed expression that crossed Medkit's face.
"That's your brother, I'm assuming?" I managed between chuckles.
"Mmmmhm. That would be Sword. I apologize that our conversation has been cut short.. You don't mind if I come back, right?"
To my own surprise, I found myself shaking my head. "Nah, I don't mind. Come back whenever, Kit. Can I call ya 'Kit'?"
They'd smirk and shrug. "You can call me anything that 𝘪𝘴𝘯'𝘵 'Meds'. Everything else is on the table."
Medkit turned to walk away, yelling a farewell over their shoulder as they returned to wherever Sword was. "I'll see you tomorrow, Seb!"
"See ya around, Kit!" I called in return before shutting the door. I turned around right as P.AI.nter powered on, his familiar drawn on face blinking a few times before smiling at me.
"Morning, Sebastian!" He said cheerfully.
"It's like.. 2 pm, but close enough. Good afternoon, kid."
I'd slither over to P.AI.nter, patting him slightly. I'd then lift him into my arms with ease, already knowing what he'd ask of me. He always wanted to be put on the windowsill when he was powered on. I made my way over to his favorite window, the one where he could see the city through it. I managed to catch a glimpse of Medkit's horns in the crowd outside before they disappeared.
"Would ya believe me if I said I made a friend?" I said after setting P.AI.nter down properly. He let out a robotic snort.
"You, making 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴? Like I'm supposed to believe that!" He teased, causing me to laugh again.
"Nah, nah, but I did! Their name's Medkit. Teal horns that look like antlers, diamond floating between them, diamond eye patch—"
"You mean the Inphernal I've been people watching since we got here?" He interrupted.
Why was he like this..?
I'd pat him again, only shaking my head while softly chuckling as I moved on to my room. The sunlight was beginning to give me a headache, so had to hide out in my room for an hour at most each day.
Maybe the Inpherno wasn't that bad. It wasn't home, but it was a place to stay.
And already, I found myself missing my new friend.
Clingy bastard.
