Work Text:

The Regime got destroyed from the inside- with all of the members not trusting each other, even Tubbo and Haiper didn’t trust each other, which was a surprise given the fact that the two were so close before he left.

What the hell happened while he was gone?

Ash wasn’t as angry as he should’ve been, really. At first he thought that maybe there was some minor disagreements between the people of The Regime, and he just had to clear them up.

He asked Tubbo first, who told him that apparently Ewron told him that Haiper didn’t trust him and that he thought that he wouldn’t be on The Regimes side if it were on difficult times, which to Tubbo was absolutely absurd.

That quickly leaded to an argument between the two, which leaded to distrust between the people of The Regime.

It left a bad taste on his mouth, even as soon as he arrived he was fixing up the misunderstandings between his citizens- friends- he couldn’t help but have a bad feeling.

How did this happen? When he left everything was fine, quite great actually. Everyone was doing the part of their job, and they were all pretty united before he left.

So what happened?

Ash sighed, he was sure that the moment he left everything would fall apart once again. But then again, he had more important matters to attend to, he had to catch up with the rest.

And even as he apparently helped the others to repair their friendships, everything still felt tense.

Ash was… concerned, to say the least.

Even as he said goodbye, he could feel the tensions rising as soon as he left.

He couldn’t fix anything.

He knows that The Regime is a façade, he keeps telling that to himself, but he still couldn’t help but worry. Just who could destroy The Regime from the inside this much ?

His first suspicion was The North, of course- on his head they were still on tense terms, so it made sense they would try and make The Regime’s life harder, but he quickly shook that off.

What would The North gain from that? Rubbles from their mansion and getting hunted down? And besides, no one from The Regime fully trusts them anyways, not to the point where they could destroy the relationships inside of The Regime.

Ash keep moving back and forth, going through his suspects and constantly denying the most obvious one.

Why would he… no, it couldn’t be him, surely not.

Yet it made the most sense.

Everyone trusted Ewron, he was charismatic and magnetic, always getting on the good side of people.
Ash stopped on his tracks: frowning, he already felt how the anger was starting to built up on him Why would he do this to me?

Ash knew that he has told Ewron multiple times that The Regime was just a farce, a way to take The Federations attention away from what he was actually planning- but when did Ewron get the right to destroy it, to destroy The Regime?

Glitches littered Ash’s body as he grew more agitated, his breathing quickening as he quickly got more and more angry.

Who did he think he was?

Ash wouldn’t have minded this, he would’ve followed Ewron’s game, only if that bastard had told him what he was planning to do.

And now he was dealing with the stress of not being able to fix whatever mess Ewron did, whatever mess Ewron didn’t tell him about before doing it.

He’s getting way too comfortable with what he can do, Ash thought, Surely he doesn’t think he can just get away from the mess he made, right?

Ash let out a shuddered breath, trying to calm down once again. It didn’t work. He could still feel how the glitches on his body intensified in tune with his own feelings.

How fucking dare he?

Ash couldn’t wait for Ewron to call him as he usually does. He had to talk about this to him, right now. He couldn’t let Ewron just walk away from the mess he had done without a single consequence.

Maybe a broken nose and death could teach the man a lesson or two.

With a shaky sigh, he decided to type out a message to Ewron.

He had to see him, now.

────────

‘’Can we meet?’’

Was the message Ewron received, at first he didn’t pay it any mind- that was until he realized from who it was.

It was Ash.

Ewron couldn’t control the way he smiled as he saw the message that the leader of The Regime had sent him, he knows he must’ve looked crazy for anyone else, but he couldn’t care less.

He knew what this was about, and he couldn’t wait to see the anger in Ash’s face.

‘’Of course, my assassin. The usual place?’’

‘’I’m already there. Don’t make me wait.’’

So insistent, Ewron thought before giggling and shaking his head. This was new…

‘’Alright then, I’ll be there in a minute.’’

Ewron sighed, already imagining what could happen.

Either he got murdered in the most brutal way, or he got cursed out: both of them sounded appealing.

But… as much as he liked both of these outcomes, he never liked seeing Ash upset, not really. So he hopes that he somehow manages to fix his ‘’friendship’’ with Ash, he’ll see what he can do.

But for now, he’ll deal with a (possibly) very angry Ash- he will see what he can do on the way there.

(But it wasn’t like Ash could stay mad at Ewron forever. They both still had a plan to follow, a plan neither of them were willing to let go. Whether it was because they were to attached to each other or they just wanted to kill everyone was unclear.)

But one think was for sure, he wasn’t getting out of that meeting in one piece, and he couldn’t wait for it, he couldn’t wait to feel Ash’s axe meet his neck.

Was that weird to say?

────────

It didn’t take long for Ewron to get there, and as expected, he was met with an hostile- upset- Ash, who was already glaring daggers on him.

‘’What did you do?’’ Ash hissed, his tone accusatory. Ewron could only put his hands up in a placating way, while chucking to himself.

‘’Oh, my assassin. Don’t worry, I just did what I had to do.’’ Ewron purred, not missing the way Ash’s gaze turned colder- more murderous- oh, how he loved that look on his faithful assassin’s face.

If only it wasn’t directed at him…

‘’Don’t act dumb, Ewron. What the fuck did you tell Tubbo? What did you say to Haiper?’’

Now that Ewron thinks more about it, he’ so glad that it’s directed towards him, Ash was so attractive when he was mad.

’Are you even listening to me?’’

‘’Oh, yeah, of course.’’ Ewron paused for a moment, considering his words, before flashing that cold- signature- smile of his. ‘’They were distracting you from our plan, Ash.’’

He didn’t miss the way Ash tensed up, whether it was from anger or surprise was unclear, not that Ewron cared- both of those possibilities sounded equally good.

‘’You were getting soft, you know? How can you kill the entire server, with me, if you keep getting attached to people.’’ Ewron sighed, taking in how more glitches appeared around Ash, he knew what it meant by now. ‘’I just had to destroy it, you know. It was distracting you from what’s really important.’’

‘’And hey, it was just a façade, wasn’t it? Why do you-‘’

Ewron’s words got cut off as he suddenly felt Ash’s fist connect with his nose, he initially cursed at the initial pain- a sickening crunch was heard as it connected with his face, Ewron covered his mouth, feeling the blood trail down his face before he smirked, an almost manic smile spread through his face.

‘’Hah- is that all you have, Ash?’’ Ewron laughed, looking at his assassin with half-lidded, amused eyes, seeing how a disgusted look spread on Ash’s face. ‘’You can do it better than that-‘’

‘’Hit me harder.’’

Ash grimaced, a concerned look spreading on his face as he looked at Ewron, the glitches around the dark haired man seemed to be disappearing momentarily, his anger getting replaced with a growing concern for Ewron’s sanity.

‘’You’re a freak.’’

‘’Tell me something I don’t know, dear assassin.’’

Before Ewron could keep mocking Ash, he felt how the other punched him again, this time harder. This was just what he was expecting, what he wanted. He couldn’t help the laugh that escaped him, even as Ash grew equally concerned as he was angry.

‘’Can’t you just be normal?’’ Ash hissed, confused at how Ewron could be acting like this in this situation- he almost felt bad about doing this to him, only if he wasn’t so pissed off at Ewron... ‘’I could just kill you. I should just kill you for the stunt you pulled.’’

Ewron smiled wider, tilting his head as if he were telling Ash to go ahead and kill him, this is what he deserved as a payback after all.

Surprise took over Ewron as he felt how Ash pulled him close, feeling a kiss press into the side of his lips- he froze on his spot, processing what just had happened, and just moments after he pulled Ash into a kiss.

Ash was initially surprised, before he returned the kiss- even as he grimaced at the taste of blood on Ewron’s lips.

They separated for a moment, before Ewron- almost eagerly- pulled Ash into another kiss, the taste of his own blood didn’t matter right now.

Did this mean Ash forgave him? Surely… oh, he couldn’t be happier, he knew Ash could see the way of his plans-

He suddenly felt how Ash’s sword pierced him, as the other pressed another kiss to the side of his mouth, Ewron shuddered.

‘’Don’t think that just because of a kiss you’re off the hook, Ewron.’’ Ash hissed, frowning as a blush spread through Ewron’s face even as a sword pierced his stomach, just how much of a freak this man is… ‘’We’ll talk later.’’

And then Ewron was back at the Polish Cave, he was happy for a few moments- only to remember that he probably would have to go look for his stuff…

He can’t keep getting distracted like this whenever he’s with Ash.

That kiss was nice though, what he wouldn’t give to repeat that.
