Sip-A-Bowl and Juice Box have been in the fields for an hour or so, the sky already verging on sunset. But somehow, it never really got boring for the two, no matter how Juice Box pretended they were dying of boredom, really. But at least it was perfectly cool outside instead of freezing or burning-your-skin-off hot.
It wasn’t really a problem, because both of them liked this type of weather, but it was still getting quite chilly outside, maybe around 17 degrees celsius right now. Just a bit chilly… right?
Sip-A-Bowl was latching onto Juice Box’s body, one arm wrapped around their neck, the other wrapped around their (rather thin) torso. She was a bit excited, seemingly for no reason, but then he DID have a lot of fun with her friend playing hopscotch that they carved out with a stick, drawing with crayons in Sippy’s notebook, and Juice Box occasionally tickling him for no reason other than to see her reaction.
“Juice! Look at the sky! It’s so beautiful!” Sippy pointed up at the sky, looking at his friend with that usual dumb, stupid smile she always had on his face.
Juice Box snorted, “Yeah, yeah, whatever dude. You like sunsets or whatever. Can we go home? I’m bored.” but they always had that familiar tone in its voice when they’re obviously pretending to be annoyed by something, even if they liked it.
Sip-A-Bowl giggled, somehow finding Juice Box’s annoyance at her a bit funny for whatever reason. “Sunsets are really beautiful… it’s like the sky turns a sweet, vibrant orange for around an hour and it's like you were basking in the sun without problems! It’s really great, you know.”
Sip-A-Bowl flopped down on the ground and looked up at the sky, and closed his eyes.
Juice Box let out a tiny laugh despite themselves, and flicked Sippy’s forehead hard enough to wake her from the edge of sleep, but not hard enough to really hurt its friend.
“Oww! Juice Booooxxx…!”
“What? I’m making sure you didn’t sleep out of nowhere on me, duh!” Juice Box ended up throwing themselves on the floor besides Sip-A-Bowl, and smirked at him.
“You’re so mean to me…” However, Sip-A-Bowl instinctively scooted closer to Juice Box, and started nuzzling her friend’s neck as if he were a lost puppy herself.
Juice Box froze for a second, and then reluctantly wrapped their arms around Sip-A-Bowl, “Wow. Okay. Clingy much, I guess.” as they huffed. “Go on, crybaby.”
“Stooppp!”
They ended up staying there for a bit more than just a few minutes. On the floor, next to each other, a bit too close to each other, even. As the day finally turned into sunset, and sunset neared night, Juice Box decided to get up, carrying Sip-A-Bowl and looking at the sky that was on the edge of finally turning dark. However, a few minutes later, they just gave up on carrying him and laying back down with her
Despite being only just a few minutes according to them, everything seemed to darken. Maybe an hour they were laying against each other, just mindlessly staring up at the sky. Juice Box yawned and rolled over on their stomach, and Sip-A-Bowl had done the same a few seconds later, hugging onto its shoulder blades and nuzzling into it. Clearly, he was having fun if you heard how much times she giggled when nuzzling his partner like a stuffed animal.
”Get off of me. It’s getting late, like really late.” Juice Box huffed, clearly trying to rub its partner off of their back, but clearly, it wasn’t REALLY reluctant in having Sippy be a little bedbug.
Sip-A-Bowl whined and decided to burrow deeper, but it didn’t seem like she just wanted to annoy Juice Box on purpose. He just kind of felt… really safe. Really comfortable. With them.
Juice Box gave up trying to get her off of them and sighed loudly, but there was no real annoyance behind it. “Whatever, dude. Whatever… you need to get up though. We’re gonna freeze, moron.”
”B-but it’s so warm with you a-a-around…” Sip-A-Bowl whined once again, but more of a heat seeking nuzzle. Taking that into account, she was shivering really badly.
”See? You’re even stuttering and your teeth are clattering like an idiot,” Juice Box muttered, but its grip around Sip-A-Bowl’s waist tightened anyway. Come on, let’s get you home. Don’t want my parasite freezing, do I?”
”Um… c-can we stargaze one last time…?”
”No. I’m dragging your shortass home whether you like it or not.”
”Aww…”
They arrived home a bit more quickly than both of them expected. Juice Box quickly set Sip-A-Bowl down and wrapped one of their chunky blankets around her, and patted it to make sure that she didn’t grow more cold even under the blanket. Sippy sniffled a bit, rolling around to get more comfortable in the blanket burrito he was currently trapped in right now.
Sippy was laying down on her back while his head was resting on the pillow that Juice Box ended up buying (because Sip-A-Bowl just begged with those stupid puppy dog eyes.), looking somewhat miserable. She didn’t hate the view, but his body did not react very well to the weather and how it hit her.
”How are you by far the most warm person I know and you still manage to get cold like this? You’re kind of pathetic.”
He accidentally sneezed, then again. Twice, almost on Juice Box.
”Jeez! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean it like that, so stop sneezing on me!”
”…Sorrryyy…”
”Yeah, sure. Now go to bed, Miss Goody Two Shoes.”
Sip-A-Bowl curled in Juice Box’s lap, shifting into the most comfortable position while it was wondering what they were going to do with her at all. It would get medicine, but because Sippy is getting comfortable and at this point they were too tired to disturb him at all. Guess the only thing it could do now was just let the golden retriever of a person just sleep on their lap, huh?
Maybe that wasn’t too bad… maybe even better than what happened at the park.
During the night, Juice Box did definitely not sneak a kiss on Sip-A-Bowl’s cheek. Definitely not.
