“A badly sprained ankle, a few cracked ribs, split knuckles, and a fairly minor concussion,” Chris recited monotonously, as if he were reading a grocery list. Chris took another puff of his cigarette, before he spluttered and coughed, doubling over in pain as the pressure in his lungs shifted. Leon stepped forward, placing a hand on Chris’s chest and the other arm around Chris’s shoulders.
“How many?” Leon asked. Chris cheeks flushed red as he caught his breath, grinding his teeth around the cigarette still in his mouth in place of providing Leon with an answer. Leon tsked, before he took the cigarette from Chris’s mouth and placed it in the ashtray that sat on the windowsill.
