Chapter Text
“One bed?” You questioned again, staring at the only bed in the room. It wasn’t even a king size, nope, it was a queen size, and Shanks looked far too proud of himself even if he tried to feign being shocked.
“That’s all they had left, love.” He told you yet you didn’t believe him. Your brow raised as he walked forward and flopped down onto the bed with a happy groan. The two of you were on your own sort of mission for the crew and you’d gotten the short straw of going with your Captain and now, the two of you were here, in an inn, on a strange island, and there was only one bed. You shook your head as you sat your travel bag down.
It could be worse, honestly, you could be sharing with Yasopp. You shuddered at that thought, you’d take your captain over the sniper anyday. Well, you’d take your captain any day as it was but you weren’t going to address that yet.
“So, now what?” You asked, laying down on the bed beside him and Shanks couldn’t help but smirk as he looked over at you, his dark eyes taking you in while his arm rested behind his head.
“Now, we wait for dark and go out and pretend to be a couple.” He said, which was a shock to you.
“I'm sorry, we’re going to do what?” You asked and he smirked lazily at you, eyes bright with delight.
“You heard me. We’re pretending to be a couple, why not? We’re already sharing a bed, and this will just help us get more information.”
“And how will that help us get more information, Shanks?”
“It just will.”
That was absolutely his excuse for he didn’t know but he planned on doing it anyway. You glared at him, a blush gracing your cheeks as you did so.
“You’re ridiculous.”
“Ah, maybe, but you seem to enjoy it.” He glanced over again and his eyes brightened at the sight of your blush. His hand reached out and his thumb barely stroked your cheek. “Ah, you do enjoy it. That blush says otherwise.”
Your cheeks heated even more as he stroked his thumb across the blush again and you swallowed. “Will you stop that?” You attempted to protest but with how your voice was shaking you knew it was no use. Shanks chuckled as he leaned in a bit closer to you, rolling onto his side.
“You know, I think you might not want me to stop it.” His tone was huskier now and your heart was racing as you watched him lean closer and closer until your lips were almost touching.
“And how do you know that?” You asked, voice coming out softer and weaker than you wanted it to. Your captain smirked as his hand cupped the side of your face.
”I just do, love. Trust me.”
For a moment, you thought he was going to kiss you, close the distance and do it but then, Shanks leaned back, smirking at you which absolutely left you shocked, a little upset, and definitely more wound up. He stretched, groaning a bit as he did.
“This is going to be fun, isn’t it?”
Oh, you were absolutely going to kill him by the end of this or you might just kiss him instead.
