The Last Dance

Summary:

Dance has always been your passion and when the chance to actually work at an entertainment company came around, you didn’t hesitate to accept the offer. And so you became one of Bighit’s new choreographer/dancer. It didn’t take long for you to get to know the members of BTS and get close to the dance line. But one day you realized that what you felt for one of them was much more than what you thought and a lot stronger…but it was already too late. What you thought would always be there started fading…

Chapter 1: Chapter One

Chapter Text

The late hours of the night were covering the city in darkness. The lights coming from the flats that sparkled throughout the city like stars in the sky were now going off, one by one. It was close to midnight already, the time most people went to sleep. The silence made everything seem peaceful. But even in this picture, there was one place that was not following the same pattern. Somewhere in a room without windows lights were still shining brightly as loud music was hitting the walls in continuous waves.

"You got it wrong again. I told you it's supposed to be right leg ahead and then you slide it back slowly while our hands move together, like this."

"Oh, damn it! Let's try it again. Play it from the beginning."

"If you get it wrong again, imma show that embarrassing video to your fans." You laughed.

It was the third time you were dancing to the same 10 seconds of Nick Jonas' "Close". You were trying to teach Jungkook the choreography you came up with for the dance show you two were planning to feature in. You have been working on this one for a whole month. It was hard to meet with Jungkook and practice together when most of the time he was out of the country for concerts. So you had no choice but to follow his schedule and there you were, spending the whole night trying to get it right. It was a dance for couples so it was impossible to learn it separately.

You got into position again. The song started playing. Your bodies were moving all over the floor so beautifully. The step he always messed up was getting close. You threw him a look. Was he going to get it right this time? You found your lips curving up when he smoothly slid his leg back as his hand followed yours. You went on with the beat, touching, grabbing and spinning each other across the room. The final move was all that was left. You took small steps in opposite directions and then turned to face each other. You waited for the right time. Seconds were passing with you exchanging deep looks. He was smiling proudly.

There it was. You started running at full speed towards him, throwing your legs around his torso as your hands wrapped tightly around his shoulders. He started spinning the moment he felt your body against his.  This move was supposed to show the strong desire lovers have for each other so it was a bit rougher than the other moves. When he stopped, you loosened the grip around his neck and gracefully leaned back as his strong arms were giving your back enough support not to fall. You got up slowly, your hand reaching for the back of his neck again. The feeling of his fingers moving up our backbone as they followed your movements were giving you goose bumps. Your eyes met as the song was coming to an end. You were both breathing heavily.

It was complete. You both grinned widely when you realized you went from beginning to the end with no mistakes. Jungkook was still holding you tightly. Your smile faded as you got lost in his eyes. He was tired, you could see that, but the sparkle was still there. All your senses amplified as the feelings you tried so hard to burry deep inside started to come to the surface, making your heartbeat go up as well. You felt his burning body through his -now- wet shirt and it was setting you on fire. His breath was tickling your skin.

You signaled for him to put you down and he did. He looked totally unaffected by this whole thing while your face started to turn red. You hated this the most. This, and the fact that he started wearing shirts at rehearsals. It was making it hard for your feelings not to explode when he looked like that.

"We did it! No mistakes! See, I told you I'll get it right." He had that smug face back on trying to mock you.

"You did, finally. Good job there!" You patted him on the shoulder.

"Should we do it again?"

"Now?! Jungkook, I get your excitement, but let me rest for 5 minutes at least." You ruffled his hair.

"Come on!! One more time. Pleaseee!"

"Nope. No." You went to take a bottle of water.

"Fine!" He pouted.

You took a seat on the bench. You saw him smiling slyly as if he was planning something. He went to his phone and selected Ty Dolla $ign's "Wavy". It was one of the songs you made a choreo together and the to go song when you wanted to have fun. He then took big steps towards you as he rolled up the sleeves of his shirt.

"What are you trying to do? I told you I need a break."

"It's been a while. Come on! Let's do it."

"5 minutes, Jungkook."

"So you want to go the hard way. Fine, so be it."

"What-"

You didn't even get to say anything else, he just lifted you up in his arms and placed you in the center of the room. He smiled down at you and started moving to the beat while you were still in awe. Did he really just do that? You scoffed and threw him a kick in the butt.

"Auch!"

"You little..."

"Shh! Here comes your move!"

You glared at him and sighed as your hands and feet started moving on their own. You felt the bass hit you in the chest. It was so nice to feel the music. Dancing was the only thing that made you feel alive. Time was flying each time you were with Jungkook. You would dance and laugh all night. The clock at the back of the room showed 4AM now. You were both lying on your backs on the floor, panting hard.

"That should be enough for today."

"Yeah...Are you free tonight?"

"You know I'm always here. Why are you asking?"

"I just wanted to introduce you to someone."

You looked at him. He was smiling shyly. What now?

"I don't need a boyfriend, Jungkook. I'm busy as it is."

"Who said anything about you?" He laughed.

"Then who is it?"

"You'll see tomorrow." He got up and went to get his bag. "I'll go now. See yah!"

"Sleep well!"

"You too!" You heard him screaming from the hallway.

"What's he up to now?" You murmured to yourself, laughing softly at possible scenarios.

You cleaned the room and checked so that everything was at its place before you went home. You were living in a small apartment at a 40 minutes walking distance from the office. The chilly morning air of autumn and the silence of the city as the sun was rising were so relaxing. You got home just when people were getting up to go to work. You were used to it already. You took a shower and slid into your pajamas. The moment your face hit the pillow, you were out.

It was funny how your day was starting when the sun was about to set, but you were a born night owl. It was about 6PM when the phone rang, startling you. You squinted your eyes and looked at the screen. It showed "Jungkook". You sighed and growled, throwing your feet in the air in frustration. You wanted to sleep more.

"What?!"

"Morning!~"

"Morning, my ass! What do you want?"

"Aren't you coming to the studio?"

"It's only 6..."

"So what? Come, please." His voice was so sweet, it was impossible to refuse.

"Fine! I'll be there in an hour. Start the ventilation if you're already there. I forgot to do it."

"Already did. I'll wait for you here. Come quickly!~"

You entered the building just as the clock was about to hit 7:30. The hallways were still silent. It was too early for artists or producers to come and too late for anyone else to be here. The dance room you used was on the first floor. It has been your favorite ever since you started working for Big Hit. It was not as big as the others but it was cozy and warm. In all the time you have been using it, the only person who was allowed to come there whenever was Jungkook. If you were to work with Hoseok or the others, you would use the big one. This was in part due to the fact that they liked that one more. But you grew so attached to this place that it felt like people who did not have your permission, were clearly not allowed to enter.

You heard the faint sound coming from it as you walked down the hallway and smiled. Seems Jungkook was already dancing. You opened the door and were about to step inside when the sight in front made you stop, the whole excitement being washed off of your face. Jungkook was dancing with someone. He looked so happy. The one next to him was also beaming like the whole world was theirs. She had long, silky black hair, the body of a model and the face of a celebrity. She was wearing a lacey white dress and a pair of cute heels. She was the exact opposite of you. You just threw your hair in a messy ponytail to go with your sweatpants and loose T-shirt. Your face was not touched by make up like hers, and your skin was not as fabulous. You felt as if someone took an empty beer bottle and hit your head with full force.

"Oh, Y/N, you're here!" He came to greet you.

"Y-yeah." You tried to fake the excitement but it was not working. "Who?..." you pointed at the girl.

"Oh, right. Y/N, meet my girlfriend, Jieun."

Your eyes widened as you looked up at him. Was this a joke? Where were the hidden cameras? Since when did he have a girlfriend? Did he even have enough free time to go out?

"G-girlfriend?" You were out of words.

"Hi!" Your head snapped in the direction of the voice. "I am Jieun. Nice to meet you!" Her smile was so bright that if there was a power outage right then, it could probably light the whole room.

You felt as if the world was crumbling down. As if your heart has just been pierced with a sword. Deep inside you expected this to happen one day, but you were not ready. In that moment your whole being became nothing. She was more beautiful and he looked happier with her while you were just a dancer. You were the only one whose face showed no sign of joy.

Girlfriend...

Your chest started to hurt, you were suffocating. You felt as if your soul had left your body. It just pained you so much. You needed to get out of there.

"I-I'm sorry. I-I have something- yeah."

You stormed out of the room, leaving them behind in confusion. Tears started to fill your eyes as your feet moved even faster. The last thing you remember was hearing Jungkook scream your name. This could not be happening...
