Chapter Text
Anyone who knew Romelle Wildegard could say that she was an active person.
Ever since she was a little girl whether it was running around or dancing, Romelle did it. She found herself following the same patterns even after joining the Shepherds.
Yes, that meant taking the most challenging missions back to back. Sue her, this is what she was used to.
It didn’t mean that it didn’t hurt though as Romelle winced as Trouble gave her one strong friendly punch after running into her as she entered the compound all roughed up.
“Sorry, Elle.” Trouble winced, an amused look in his eyes. “I probably shouldn’t keep you, Ayla and Shery had been worried sick.” He said and Romelle’s eyes softened at the mention of her girlfriends.
She doesn’t even know what she did to deserve not one but two women loving her unconditionally. Ayla was like the wind (she gave herself a little fist bump in the head for that) , she took her breath away with every fierce thing she did. Shery was the sun after a cold day, brightening her day with just a smile.
They were all different but they loved each other just the same.
Saying goodbye to Trouble, Romelle walked to their shared room as she opened the door. Both Ayla and Shery were already inside whispering something. Once the door opened both of their heads turned towards the sound and suddenly Romelle was startled by a huge hug between two of her girlfriends.
“You’re back!” Shery cried, burying her face to the crook of Romelle’s neck not even caring about how sweaty Romelle seemed to look.
“What the fuck took you so long?” Ayla grumbled but she seemed just as eager to see Romelle, giving her a punch in the shoulder.
Romelle groaned, opening her eyes as she pouted at her girlfriend.
“Okay.” She wheezed. “I kinda deserved that.”
Ayla huffed but still broke into a small smile as she leaned in and brushed a kiss to Romelle’s shoulder that made her heart skip a beat.
“You almost gave Shery a heart attack when we heard that you took those missions back to back. Do you know how fucking stupid that is?” Ayla complained, kissing her and lecturing like a kid at the same time.
It soothed Romelle, made her remember all those days back at her village.
“Okay, I get it! Shery say something!” Romelle pouted and turned towards her shorter girlfriends.
Shery smiled at her girlfriend's antics before she spoke. “I wouldn’t exactly say it that way but… you should take care of yourself. For us.” She murmured, looking down and Romelle felt herself fall quiet.
She sometimes forgot to think that the people she loved the most in the world worried about her too. It made something inside her bloom like a wild fire.
“I understand.” Romelle whispered gently. “I should have been more considerate of myself.” She apologized before a grin overtook her scarred face.
“Cuddles?”
Ayla rolled her eyes playfully and dragged both of them to the bed, making Romelle lay down between the two. “It’s like you even need to ask.” She grumbled.
The two of them wrapped her arms around Romelle’s muscular figure and she could feel the pain in her body fading with every single passing moment. It felt like home.
“I love you both.” Romelle whispered before slowly succumbing to a deep slumber. She didn’t need to hear the answer to her whispered confession.
She knew the answer.
