Chapter Text

Min Ho and Kitty were standing in the middle of the path, close to the subway train station; kissing. They had lost each other but life had other plans and they managed to find their way back to each other.

Kitty and Min Ho's lip parted away from each others as they both stared at each other and smiled whilst their hands intertwined in each others.

"I missed you." Kitty said in a smile.

Min Ho smiled, using his hand to tuck a piece of her hair behind her ear to get a better look at her. "I missed you too, Covey. More than I care to admit."

"Well we should go. As we have a flight to catch." Min Ho said, smirking up at her with amusement.

Kitty smiled, gazing up at him. She didn't even ask him to come as he invited himself but she finds it so fitting and so perfect. They never got to spend tour together so this will be their chance to spend winter break together.

"That we do." Kitty replied.

They both made their way onto the subway on their way to the airport. Min Ho grabbed hold of Kitty's yellow suitcase and carried it for her as they stepped onto the subway.

Kitty leaned in closer as she pouted her lips and smiled. Taking a small sigh. "So the reason you were constantly locking yourself away in the music studio was because you were writing a song for me."

Min Ho chuckled, nodding slightly. "Mostly. I guess after the breakup I wanted to distract myself but writing gave me an escape from everything. I was able to put my feelings down into a song for you. It's the first actual piece that I ended up loving. I guess cause it's so personal."

"Dae helped and I even called up one of the people my dad used to work with to sing it. But the lyrics and sound is all me." Min Ho admitted.

Kitty smirked and her heart was beating fast. She was glad to have him back. No one has ever done someone like that for her.

"I love it. Nobody has ever done anything like that for me before." Kitty said, smiling at him.

Min Ho chuckled.

Kitty paused for a second, fussing with her button as she glanced at him. "Wait so you came all this way to chase me down and you didn't bring anything?"

Min Ho nodded, softly. "Just my passport, my phone with money in it and that's it. I was in a bit of a rush."

"Sorry that's so suprising to me." Kitty teased.

"I followed my heart. I'm done following what people expect of me and of what my dad wants for me. I want to have a choice." Min Ho admitted. If there is something he has learnt this year is that he doesn't always have to keep living in the shadows of others.

"Your dad is missing out. You're a great person, Min Ho." Kitty said.

Min Ho smiled. "Thanks Covey."

Once they arrived at the airport, Min Ho paused for a second, with his hand intertwining in Kitty's hand.

"Say what if we get different seats?" Min Ho suggested.

Kitty blinked. "Min Ho are you serious?"

Min Ho nodded. "Duh, it's the least I can do. There's no way I'm taking coach."

Kitty laughed, finding it rather amusing how dramatic her boyfriend is. "So dramatic but yay!"

Min Ho went and booked their flight straight from his phone. Business class.

As Kitty and Min Ho were waiting for their flight, sitting down in the lounge.

"You know your sister Lara Jean she was pretty intimidating." Min Ho admitted.

Kitty nodded. " That's LJ for you."

"She was right though. You are a great person to have in my corner."

After a few hours Kitty and Min Ho were now on their flight to portland. They were safely in their seats right next to each other.

Kitty was mesmerised, looking around. She glanced over at Min Ho who was unfazed, as he was used to this. "I like first class." She smiled excitedly.

"Technically this is business class. Don't get all posh on me Covey." He said bluntly.

Kitty moved her hand closer and leaned it against the space between them and Min Ho smiled at her as he interviewed his hand with his.

"It's going to be freezing in Portland isn't it?" He asked, concerned. He is usually so prepared but this time not so much.

"We'll get you some warmer clothes. I think you'd look really cute in a flannel." She said, glancing at him softly.

Min Ho smiled. "I can't wait to see the city that made Kitty Song Covey."

"Yeah? Well if you thought LJ was something. Just wait until you meet my dad." Kitty admitted.

Min Ho blinked and swallowed as he inhaled sharply. Lowkey freaking out in this moment and it had no registered in his brain yet that he is meeting his girlfriend's dad for the first time.

Kitty pouted her lips and kissed the back of his hand, sweetly.

Kitty and Min Ho both looked at each other and smiled.

As Lara Jean said, love is worth the risk. This is only the beginning of their story.

The flight to Portland was good. With the occasion embarrassment from Kitty who said yes to literally every snack and every goody bag she could find.

Seventeen hours had passed. They were now in Portland. Min Ho was asleep with his hand still intertwined in hers. Kitty leaned over and tapped him on the shoulder.

"Min Ho, we are here now." Kitty said.

Min Ho blinked as he started to wake up and smiled as he saw her. "Morning Covey."

The plane had landed and Kitty had picked up her suitcase from the luggage area.

Min Ho took a deep breath and sighed. He was so nervous.

Kitty smiled at him as she grabbed his hand. "Hey don't be nervous. My dad will love you."

"Yeah."

"Covey can I go and buy some clothes now? I brought nothing with me." Min Ho suggested.

Kitty chucked, leaning in and placing a small kiss onto his lips.

"Sure." She replied.

A few hours passed and Kitty and Min Ho had spent the entire morning at the mall. She found it rather amusing with how obsessed he is with his looks.

After he brought a few clothes. A few meaning a ton because he would rather be prepared than not being prepared at all.

Kitty tugged on his flannel that Kitty had forced him to buy. He would do anything for her. "See I told you, you would look cute in a flannel."

"Oh really." He said teasingly.

"Really." Kitty replied.

Min Ho chuckled as they both leaned in and kissed on the lips, deeply. His hands laced the back of her neck as her hands were placed on his chest. They were kissing and kissing for a while until they stopped.

He grabbed her hand as they left the shop they were in. Min Ho dragged her to another shop as he wanted to buy gifts for the family. He is asian after all and never goes to people's home without a gift to show appreciation.

Once they made it to the doorstep of the Covey house. It finally sunk in for Min Ho that he was about to meet Dan Covey for the very first time.

"Hey it's going to be okay. You're going to be fine." Kitty said softly.

Min Ho nodded. "Right, yeah."

Kitty stepped through the door and awaiting her was her dad and Trina, who had just finished putting up a sign that said welcome home kitty.

She rushed passed Min Ho and gave her dad and step mom a huge hug. "Dad! Trina!"

"Missed you Kitten." Dan Covey smiled up at his youngest.

Min Ho giggled softly. "Kitten?"

Kitty's face turned red as she stared back at her boyfriend. "Don't you start."

"I didn't say anything." He teased.

"We are so happy you are home." Trina said.

Min Ho blinked from the side as he approached them. "Thanks for having me Sir."

"Oh please call me Dan." He said as he went and greeted Min Ho with a handshake.

"I've never really done this before but I got some gifts." Min Ho said and he passed over a basket of snacks and a pair of flowers.

"Aww thank you." Dan replied.

"Very thoughtful. Tell you what Kitty, your boyfriend is a keeper." Trina whispered.

Kitty smiled and nodded her head. "That he is."

Kitty skipped over to her boyfriend and held his hand. "You're doing so good. They love you."

"Thanks Covey." Min Ho replied.

"Can I ask, what is all this?" Dan Covey asked pointing to the bags that were on the floor.

"I told you, you brought too many clothes." Kitty teased, turning back to her boyfriend again.

Min Ho scoffed. "Did not."

"Min Ho we are only here for two weeks. You are acting as if it's the end of the apocalypse!" Kitty teased, her face rather blunt.

"You know I can't live without my skincare and clothes. And I had brought nothing so." Min Ho chuckled.

Tina who leaned her head against her husband, formed a smile. "They are cute."

"You know Kitten, you both remind me of your mom and I. That's how we used to flirt too." Dan Covey chuckled.

"Also Kitty bed-

Kitty rolled her eyes, shaking her head. "Yes I got it. Separate bedrooms. Got it."

"Why don't you give Min Ho a tour of the house and me and Trina will prepare something for you guys to eat, how does that sound?" Dan Covey asked.

Kitty nodded. "Perfect just don't cook Korean food. You know it's not as good as mom's was."

"Fine." Dan Covey replied.

Kitty helped Min Ho with the bags and he carried her suitcase. Min Ho bags were placed in the guest bedroom and Kitty's suitcase was back in her room.

Kitty gave Min Ho a tour of the house. It felt amazing to see the home she grew up in and to have the chance to share it with her boyfriend was beautiful to see.

"And this is my room!" Kitty announced as they both stepped into the room.

"Very you." Min Ho said.

Min Ho looked around the room and then saw pictures on her wall of her family and her friends at KISS and more specifically a picture of her and Min Ho when they were in Busan.

Kitty came up from behind him and leaned her head against his shoulder as he laced her hand in his.

"You don't keep any of your old friends from here?" Min Ho asked.

Kitty shook her head. "I had lots of friends in Portland but they aren't important to me. I found my best friends and boyfriend at KISS. They are the only ones that really matter."

Min Ho leaned in and cupped her face in his hands and kissed her, deeply and intensely. They were making out so much that they almost fell onto the bed.

They heard her dad and Trina yell from downstairs that lunch was ready so they quickly parted.

"Did you tell your dad that you are staying?" Kitty asked.

Min Ho scratched the back of his head. "I did not. He fired me and is always trying to control my life. I don't care what he thinks anymore. I get to decide. He's probably pissed but my mum was cool with it. She told me she spent her entire marriage with my dad being second. She feels I deserve to be someone's number one for a change."

Kitty and Min Ho both leaned in for a small sweet kiss. "You are." She replied.

Kitty and Min Ho came downstairs, holding hands. They both sat down next to each other at the table and Trina and Dan sat opposite them as they placed the food onto the table.

Conversations were going on and Min Ho and Dan were having a pleasant conversation. This made Kitty so happy that her dad approves of him.

"You know dad you should let Min Ho cook Korean food for us." Kitty suggested.

"You'd share a few recipes with us?" Dan Covey asked.

Min Ho nodded. "Yeah. My mother taught me everything I know."

A few minutes later as Kitty and Min Ho had just finished washing up; Lara Jean, Peter and Margot just came in through the door.

"We are home!" Lara Jean shouted.

Kitty rushed past Min Ho and hugged LJ and Margot tighly. "I missed you both so much!"

"We missed you too." Margot replied.

Min Ho then walked over and smiled at them. "Lara Jean."

LJ smirked. "Min Ho."

"I see you took my advice. Good thinking." LJ smiled.

Margot smiled, shaking her head. "It's good to see you again. I never did thank you for flying me over with halmoni."

"Oh it's okay." Min Ho said.

Peter then glanced over at Kitty who was holding onto Min Ho's hand. Peter smirked. "See I told you he still liked you."

Kitty stared at him. "Peter."

"Sorry what?" Min Ho asked.

"Remember when we were at the stationary store. Peter thought you liked me still. He was right though." Kitty giggled.

"I was subtle."

"Says the guy who confessed again and wrote me a song."

Lara Jean glanced over at Min Ho and then back at Peter. "So romantic. Hey how come you haven't written me a song?"

Peter swallowed. "Because it would sound like dog shit."

"So how did this start?" Peter asked.

Kitty blinked and she started to yap away without drawing any breath.

"I confessed on tour and we kissed at the beach but then I went to join LJ in New York. Then he organised a senior sunrise for me and we kissed and started dating. Then we broke up because of miscommunication and insecurities and then he chased me down the train and confessed his feelings for me. And now we are back together."

"Alright, breath Covey." Min Ho teased.

A week had passed. Christmas was close by. Min Ho was getting ready for the day when Kitty entered the guest bedroom.

"Hey, handsome." Kitty said as she approached him near the bathroom mirror.

"Covey, hey." He leaned in closer and kissed her softly.

"There's this cafe which I used to go to all the time when I was a kid. You wanna join me in a bit?" Kitty asked.

"Sure." Min Ho replied.

Kitty and Min Ho leaned in closer and kissed. Deeply. Intensely. They were making out so much that some items on the bathroom counter top fell onto the floor.

"Covey, what if your dad walks in?" Min Ho stopped kissing her as he looked at her with concern.

Kitty rolled her eyes. "Ugh fine."

Min Ho and Kitty were at a cafe, on a date. Spending winter break together was the best decision they have ever made.

No matter what happens. They know they will be okay as long as they have each other.

"I can see why you like this place so much." Min Ho told her.

"It's not just any place. This was the place where my mom told LJ, Margot that they were going to be big sisters. I'm lucky to have them." Kitty admitted.

"I wonder what's that like. I have siblings that I don't talk to mainly because they are so deep into fame and with my dad comparing us all. We just never bonded or acted like real siblings. I don't know if we ever will." Min Ho admitted.

Kitty held onto his hand and laced her fingers on them. "I know you are bumped about him. But forget him as if he can't see how amazing you are then that's his loss."

"Thanks, Covey." He tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear and kissed her lighly.

Kitty had asked someone to talk a picture of her and Min Ho. As she wants to remember this forever. The young couple took a few pictures of her and Min Ho. Some pictures of them kissing and in love.

"Now this is going in a frame at KISS." Kitty smiled.

It was now Christmas. Min Ho was feeling a bunch of emotions. Excited, happy yet a feeling he landed on he couldn't quite describe. He had always spent his Christmases with his mother and he never spent it with his dad.

A part of him will always mourn a better relationship with his dad. A relationship he will never get to have.

Spending Christmas with the Covey family had healed something in him that he never thought would ever be possible. Christmas with a family who are there for each other and who love each other despite everything.

They all had Christmas dinner and were ready for a movie night. Before they watched the movie Kitty and her dad were washing up the dishes when she told her dad something that made him pause for a second.

"You're saying you don't want to go to NYU anymore?" Dan Covey asked.

Kitty pouted her lips. "I'm not sure. I love NYU but my heart also belongs in seoul, with Min Ho and with the family I made there. I built a life there so I don't know if NYU is for me anymore."

"What do I do?" Kitty asked.

"I can't tell you what to do. Listen to your heart and it may very well lead you to the place that you are meant to be act. You have to choose the right path that is right for you."

Kitty nodded. "I will. Thanks dad."

"No matter what decision you make. Know that love is always worth the risk and we are always here for you."

"Thank you. I love you Dad." Kitty enveloped him into a hug.

"Love you too, Kitten." Dan Covey patted her on the back and smiled up at her.

LJ and Peter were snuggled up together on the couch, with Kitty and Min Ho on the opposite side of the couch as the movie Elf was being played on the TV in front of them.

Kitty and Min Ho were snuggled up together, with blankets thrown over them. Kitty was laying her head on his lap as he was twirling her hair in his hands. Just in awe of her beauty.

Kitty then blinked as she got up from his lap and grabbed a tiny box from behind the tree and placed it in his hand.

"Merry Christmas, Min Ho." She smiled.

Min Ho opened up the box and inside was a silver bracelet with a charm on it. A sun and moon charm intertwined together.

"Covey, I love it." He said as he put it on his right hand.

He traced the back of her neck with his right hand and kissed her on the lips, cupping her face in his hands.

"Okay my turn." Min Ho said.

Min Ho picked up a box from the back of his pocket and placed it in her hand.

"Merry Christmas Covey."

Kitty opened the box and saw a dainty silver necklace with a sun and moon interviewed. She looked over at Min Ho and leaned over and placed her lips onto his.

"I love it."

Min Ho carefully put the necklace on her neck from behind. Kitty turned around again and touched her necklace and smiled at her boyfriend.

Neither of them had ever felt a love like this.

"This time keep it and don't throw it back in my face." Min Ho teased.

Kitty shook her head. "I won't."

"I love you, Min Ho."

"I love you too, Covey."

They both leaned in again as they kissed on the lips.

This was the best Christmas they both have ever had. Here they are now. Together. Snuggled up on the couch.

A week passed. Kitty and Min Ho were leaving to go back to KISS for their second semester of Senior Year, but also their last semester at KISS.

Before they left Kitty and Min Ho were at the kitchen table having the most awkard conversation with Dan Covey.

"As you two know you are both adults now. It's senior year and things are changing and you may or may not want to explore those feelings further with your own body." Dan Covey said.

Kitty blinked as her face turned bright red. "Oh my god."

"Kitty sex is a beautiful thing but I'd rather you be more careful and prepared. Protection is important." Dan Covey added.

"Oh my god, dad. Seriously?" Kitty raised an eyebrow, feeling rather embarrassed.

Min Ho was avoiding eye contact. This was the most awkward conversation he has ever been part of.

He and Kitty have never taken that step with each other. Of course they know they will eventually when they are both ready.

"That's why I made sure to pack some in your suitcase." Dan Covey smiled up at her.

Kitty nervously giggled. "Alright we should get going. Come on Min Ho."

She reached for his hand as they both dragged their suitcases out the doorstep.

Min Ho stared at her and whispered. "That was awkward. Did he actually-

Kitty nodded her head. "Yes now I gotta hide them at school. Just the cons of having a dad who is a gynaecologist."

"At least he cares about your health." Min Ho teased.

"Yeah one way to put it."

Min Ho chuckled. He honesty shouldn't be laughing but it was pretty hilarious seeing his girlfriend get all worked up on this.

Min Ho put his arm over Kitty's. "Come on let's go."

In just seventeen hours her and Min Ho will be back at KISS. Ready for their final semester at KISS. Ready to make the most of it.
