This is my first fic that I've posted EVER I believe, so it may not be that good!! ^_^" I wrote this and another fic that I'll be posting soon enough when I was in the middle of a solidarian hyperfixation so they're meant to be read at a romantic perspective but you can still view it as platonic since idrc,,, ALSO it might be a little cringe at some parts so mb T_T

Work Text:

Grian swings his feet over the edge of what appears to be a bridge made of soil, wheat seeds, water, and.. Tears— wait isn’t that the same thing as water?? That doesn’t matter, what DOES matter though is that this parrot is taking a rest on the side of bread-bridge, alone.

The bad boy sighs,

“I really shouldn’t just be sitting here, I’m wasting precious seconds that could be used doing something productive.. Like, crafting more TNT carts– that would give me MORE time in the long run..”

Grian murmurs to himself, he and almost everybody else on the server seem to have a habit of talking to themselves.. But can you really blame them? Being stuck in a bordered forest would drive ANYONE crazy! No offense.

“Hey there, G!” A tall, blond canary greets Grian. This fellow is none other than one of his teammates, Jimmy.

Grian flinches, his feathers ruffling at the sudden appearance of his friend. He shifts back from the bridge’s ledge & gives Jim a small, timid wave.

“Oh– Hey, Tim.” The parrot would say, seeming aloof towards Jimmy.

“Whatcha.. Got over there?” He questions, peering over at the heavy sack that Jim’s been hauling over his shoulder for the past… Gods know how long.

The canary chuckles in response, taking a few wobbly steps in Grian’s direction before steadily plopping down beside him. He sets the large bag of oddly heavy-weighted items behind the two and stretches, his wings pressing onto Grian’s side, making him shift away slightly.

“Ah, It’s nothing.. I’ve been collecting the grown-in wheat from around the bridge, and turned it into some pastries using the other ingredients we got our hands on!” Jimmy boasts, seeming very proud of himself, considering that before this, Jim had almost no experience crafting anything other than a loaf of bread on his own.

Grian snickers a bit to himself, glancing between Jimmy & his bag full of sweet treats. His stomach sabotages Grian, grumbling in the silentest of moments.

“..Ah.” He chirps, turning his head away from both Jimmy, and the source of his sudden hunger.

Jimmy chuckles, “Awh, Gri! Does this mean the pastries are THAT good?” He jokes.

Grian’s face flushes, and he pulls his shades down.. Supposedly to take another glance at the sack of treats, or maybe Jimmy?

“..No, how would I even know if they were good or not unless–” He trails off, before reluctantly holding a hand out, silently asking for a bite of anything Jim had baked.

Jimmy nods, turning around to unloosen the bag's tie. He grabs a chocolate-chip cookie, made from the cocoa Joel had found while searching the re-loaded mansion a few sessions ago.

“These are real good. Trust me, I’ve tried them.” Jimmy smiles warmly, gently placing the cookie into Grian’s palm. The parrot pulls the small dessert close, breaking it into two pieces by accident after holding it a little TOO tight..

He blinks, not expecting that to happen. Before Grian can fully process what happened, Jimmy snatches one of the pieces away from his grasp.

“Wow, Thanks Grian! I didn’t know you were so into sharing now?” Jim exclaims, speaking with his mouth full. Somehow within the 2.. 3 seconds that Jim had to grab the dessert, he’d already manage to gobble it up.

Grian stares at Jimmy, his brows raised in both offense and impress.

“You’re welcome..?” He says, confuzzled. Grian shakes his head slightly before taking a small nibble out of the treat. He smiles against his will, actually really enjoying how it tastes.

“Wow, Timmy! This actually isn’t as bad as I thought it’d be?” He elbows the canary, giggling. Grian finishes the dessert, content.

“You know, now that I think about it.. I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a cookie.” Grian says, looking up at the setting sky, his memory becoming oddly hazy.

Jimmy hums, seeming confused. “Really? I have them like.. Once a month!”

Grian nods, feeling a bit dazed. “Yeah.. I know I must've had some before, I think they were like... Oatmeal cause they needed to be—”

Grian suddenly starts to rapidly lose health, not even seeming to be aware of it. Jimmy’s head snaps over to the parrot in a panic. He scoots back in fear as his friend disappears, the only thing left of him being a server-message in the corner of his vision, “Grian was slain by Cookie.” And a single feather.
