Chapter 1: Prince

Chapter Text

The prince Kaveh is annoying, he won't deny that.

Always painting pictures of buildings and sceneries and all that useless stuff instead of actually doing his duty as a prince.

So caring of others over himself that he gets tricked by scams.

Sure he's rich and wealthy, but who knows when that wealth is going to disappear?

He's always been serving as his knight. Calling him out for his naivety and recklessness.

Does he listen? Not necessarily.

The day arrives where he meets his destined one.

Some feeling of unease fell on Alhaitham's chest. A feeling of being replaced?

That's not true.

He's been his knight ever since he finished training by his 20. The youngest knight to serve his lord, who is just older than him by a little.

Then why does he feel replaced? The princess is there to rule with the prince, not protect him like the duties of a knight.

He must be overthinking.

Kaveh has been hanging out with his partner over him.

More time to relax and read some books.

He looked over at the garden shed where Kaveh would read books to him when they were younger. He didn't understand some words, so Kaveh helped pronounce it for him.

It's lonely.

He always has been lonely before Kaveh came into his life.

It's just like before.

Now why did you have to do that?

Why did you have to take that blow from me?

Kaveh fell on his knees. His white surcoat stained red.

Alhaitham's eyes widened.

"The Light of Kshahrewar has gone down! We're done here folks!" The enemies yelled.

Are you stupid?

The whole kingdom relies on you and you protect one person over everyone else. That person isn’t even your partner.

How much stupider can you be?

He picked up his sword and threw it straight at the captain's head.

He fell off his horse with a thump on his head.

"Kill every last one of them!" Alhaitham commanded his troops “Call a doctor to come to the scene to tend to his majesty!”

"I can just hear you calling me stupid again." Kaveh mumbled.

"Shut up, just shut it." Alhaithaim demanded, as he untied his cape.

"It's like those fairytales." Kaveh marveled.

"Can't you just shut up for once?" Alhaitham stressed again as he wrapped his cape around his abdomen.

“I wanted to tell you something. My last words or something that would be inscribed in my grave. I would think you're the closest person I know. I wonder what you would say about me? Something like “His lord was stubborn, but a good man.”” Kaveh pondered.

Alhaitham tighten the knot and applied pressure to the area.

“I love how caring you are right now. Pampering me. I’m just so used to the more stern Alhaitham, I don’t know which one I love more.”

Alhaitham continued to apply pressure.

Kaveh closed his eyes. His skin complexion steadily becomes pale.

“I love you Alhaitham.” Kaveh murmured under his breath.

Alhaitham would have stopped what he was doing to process all this. Why did he say his name instead of his wife? Was it a mistake or intentional?

He continued to exert pressure until paramedics arrived.

________

Kaveh opened his eyes. He looked right and the left to see Alhaitham pacing around.

"Alhaitham…" Kaveh started.

Alhaitham quickly turned around and rushed to him. He felt his forehead and checked his pulse with his fingers.

"I'm fine I'm fine." Kaveh assured "Are you okay? Is the battle over?"

"I'm fine. The battle is over." Alhaitham answered. "We got oatmeal. You must be hungry. I'll feed you." Alhaitham smiled.

Kaveh's face shot red.

"Y-You aren't taking what I said seriously right?" Kaveh stammered.

Alhaitham frowned at that statement.

"O-Okay. I was serious about what I said. I do love you. Awkward confession with someone who's already with some-"

Alhaitham's lips pressed against his own before he could say anything else.

It feels warm and perfect.

Kaveh parted and asked. "So what do I say to-?"

"I already did. She said she understood and that she would think you would do the same if the situation occurred with her." Alhaithaim answered.

"Oh, that was quick. I'm so lucky." Kaveh laughed.

"Yeah, making everyone worried sick for a week." Alhaitham scolded.

"WHAT A WEEK!?!" Kaveh exclaimed.

"Sit down, you'll damage your stomach more." Alhaitham instructed.

"Can I get one more kiss?" Kaveh asked.

Alhaitham stared at him.

"Only if it's going to get you better."
