Work Text:
"Have you noticed that Chloe Charming never goes on a second date?" Chester asked randomly when him and Red were smoking weed from Wonderland on the hood of his car.
"Um yeah. It's all the boys talk about. 'Oh I'll get a second date with her.' 'No I will!' It's so stupid." Red sassed then took the joint from between Chester's fingers.
"I'm just saying... I have a bet for you," Chester said with a mischievous grin.
Red glared at him, "Are you trying to get me to waste my time trying to get her to date me?"
Chester shrugged, "I'll do whatever you want for a whole week if you can get her to be your girlfriend. I mean I bet you can't so..."
Red smirked, "Oh but I bet I can. I'll have Charming falling all over me in no time."
She took a hit from the joint then blew the smoke to the side, "I mean it can't be that hard."

The next day Red approached Chloe in the school library with an air of confidence. The blue haired girl eyed her as she sat down.
"Heyyyy Charming," Red said, resting her hand underneath her chin.
"And what could you possibly want from me?" Chloe questioned, already annoyed.
Red fluttered her eyelashes innocently, "What makes you think I want something?"
Chloe rolled her eyes, "Why else would you talk to me? You've barely ever even looked in my direction before."
Red shrugged, "You just looked lonely. You don't wanna be friends with me?"
Chloe narrowed her eyes, "Friends? This our first time ever speaking."
The redhead shifted closer in her seat. "Well then, let's change that. I'm Red of Hearts, but you probably already know that."
Chloe looked at her with a glare, "Really? Can't you just go away?"
Red smirked, "Nope. You're stuck with me now, Charming."
The blue haired girl huffed and ignored Red as she turned back to her studying. Red didn't say anything more and took out her sketchbook.
She started to sketch Chloe while the girl was focused on studying. After an hour Chloe stood up and started to pack up.
Red put her sketchbook away and followed after Chloe, "You're in swords and shields right?"
The shorter girl side eyed her again, "Why do you know that?"
Red shrugged with a small smirk, "Don't worry about it."
— — — — —
Red put her bag down on the bleachers watching over the swords and shields training room. Chloe hadn't noticed her as she was too focused with her team.
Practice started and the redhead couldn't help but admit that Chloe looked pretty hot fighting. She won her first match with a smile and Red just watched with amazement.
Not only was she hot but she was really good.
Battle after battle she won until she'd fought the whole team. No wonder the whole school wanted to date her.
Once practice ended, Chloe rubbed the sweat from her forehead and packed up. Red walked down the bleachers and sat down on the bench next to Chloe's bag.
"Hey Charming. It's nice to see you again," the redhead said with a slight smirk.
Chloe barely spared her a glance, "I'm busy, 'Red of Hearts'," she mocked.
Red wasn't fazed in the slightest, she only chuckled, "You can pack up and talk, Chloe Charming."
The blue haired girl looked up at her, studying her. Red shifted a little bit under the gaze and raised an eyebrow. Chloe's eyes lingered over her legs that were exposed.
Red smirks, she can get this girl to fall for her easily. She leaned closer and shoved the last thing into Chloe's bag.
She blinked as if woken up from a trance and zipped up her bag, "I'm going in the locker room. See ya."
Red watched her walk away, knowing she would win this girl over. It might take time but that's okay, she can be patient.
— — — — —
Since the bet had been made, Red started noticing Chloe everywhere. She didn't realize how much they crossed paths until she was looking for her blue hair in the crowd.
Chloe hadn't been interested in talking to her, probably thinking Red was like everyone else and only looking to date. Which she kinda was so Chloe was right for that.
But that didn't matter, Red had a bet to fulfill.
It was just past dinner time, meaning people should be walking back to their dorms. Red walked down where she knew Chloe's dorm was to see if she could spot her.
A small smirk appeared on her face when she spotted blue hair. Red walked up to the girl, "Hey Charming."
Chloe side eyed her but didn't turn her head as she kept walking to her dorm. Red sped up her walking so they were side by side.
Their arms brushed and Chloe moved away from her, "Why are you always around? Are you stalking me?"
The redhead tilted her head, she kind of was but she wasn't going to tell Chloe that, "No it must just be fate for us to be friends."
Chloe rolled her eyes and stopped at a door. She glanced at Red while opening the door, "Or you're just stalking me. I'm not interested. Go away."
And with that the door was slammed in her face.
Okay maybe a little harder than Red thought.
— — — — —
It took 3 weeks for Red to get a proper conversation with the girl. Most times Chloe either ignored her or walked away, so it surprised Red.
She had walked up with her usual flirty smile, "Good morning, Charming. How are you doing today?"
Chloe gave her a side glance but answered, "I'm fine. I went on a morning run and had some good breakfast."
Red's flirty smile widened into a genuine one. She responded with how her morning went and asked Chloe if she was free later that day.
The blue haired girl dodged the question by standing up and stating she needs to go to class. Red frowned as she watched her go.
Class didn't start for another 20 minutes but Red headed to hers. She saw Chloe again at lunch, sitting alone in the library.
She had her head down as she was eating and writing something down in a notebook. Red set her tray down next to the other girl's but she didn't react.
"Hey," Red said, popping a fry in her mouth.
Chloe jumped, having not noticed Red had sat down, "Hello. I'm studying."
The redhead nodded, "Yeah I can see that. Shouldn't you be focused on eating?"
Chloe picked up her food with her fork. "I'm eating," she said, shoving the bite in her mouth.
Red rolled her eyes, "Yeah but I mean just eating. Don't you take breaks from studying?"
The book on the table slammed shut, startling Red who jumped. Chloe huffed and grabbed her stuff and her food.
She was about to stand and move but Red grabbed her arm, "Why can't you just talk to me?"
Chloe glared at her and ripped her arm from the redhead's hold, "Why won't you just leave me alone? You randomly just started talking to me a few weeks ago. That means you want something."
Red frowned; the other girl was right; she couldn't deny it. She had started talking to her because of the bet Chester made. But now she genuinely wanted to know her.
— — — — —
Red stayed away from her for a few days, hoping Chloe took it as the redhead giving her space and not confirmation that she wanted something.
She paced outside of Chloe's dorm, waiting for her to return. When blue hair came in a sight, she smirked widely.
Chloe clenched her jaw but Red was standing in the way of her door so she couldn't walk past. The blue haired girl glared, "Can you move?"
Red held out the blue rose she had behind her back, "One date. One date and if you want me to leave you alone I'll listen."
Chloe's glaze stayed hard but as she took the rose, she seemed to consider it, "And why should I?"
The redhead's smirk widened, "Because I got you a rose and you want to."
Chloe rolled her eyes and twirled the rose around, "Fine but don't cry when we don't go for a second date."
Red brushed a curl from the blue haired girl's face, "I won't even need to think about crying. Even if I get just one date with you."
Chloe's face flushed lightly. She tried to cover it with another eye roll, but it made Red's smirk widen more if that was even possible.
A piece of paper was slid into Chloe's pocket then Red saluted her before walking down the hall. Chloe's eyes lingered on the empty hall before she unlocked her dorm and went inside.
The paper inside her pocket had a phone number written messily in Red's handwriting. Next to it was a little winky face and a heart with a bolt through it.
As if she wouldn't know who the paper was from.
Red was kinda hard to forget.
— — — — —
Red was trying to distract herself but it wasn't working.
She stared at the blank phone, trying to will it to light up with a new number. It had been a few hours since she'd given Chloe her number.
Red had hoped Chloe would text her right away but she knew that the other girl probably wouldn't. Time kept passing and it was midnight before she decided to give up.
Just as she shut her eyes, her phone buzzed. She quickly snatched it only to groan when it was just Pink sending her a TikTok.
Maybe she'll send a text tomorrow.
The next day came, and Red frowned when she woke up to no new numbers. She only had a text from Pink and a few from Chester, who was asking if she was still up so they could sneak out.
She'll have to make plans with him tonight instead. Red picked up her phone and texted him.
1:34am

Stoner
Wowwww you made Charming blush such an achievement 🙄
To Stoner
Shut up dick head I don't see you making anyone blush
They went back and forth in their usual banter until Red decided to get ready. She went straight to the café, hoping to see Chloe.
She spotted her sitting with her friends. Red smirked and walked over, sitting down next to Chloe.
"Hey there, Charming," she said in her best flirty voice.
Chloe didn't comment or side eye her like usual, "Hi Red."
The blue-haired girl's friends all looked at Red, studying her. She looked back and waited for one of them to say something.
"Why are you sitting here?" Hazel questioned, her tone annoyed.
Red tilted her head, "I can sit wherever I want, Hook."
She said her last name mockingly, which made Hazel grit her teeth. She glared at Red, "This is our table. No one invited you."
The redhead looked to Chloe but she was staying out of it, choosing to look at her food and eat. Red turned back to Hazel to see the girl snarling at her.
"Yes I invited myself. I wanted to sit next to Chloe so I did," Red said, leaning her head into one hand.
Dizzy spoke up beside Hazel, "She can sit here,
Hazel. It's okay. She's not bothering anyone."
The brunette gritted her teeth, "She's bothering me."
Red raised a brow, "I just sat down what have I done to you?"
Hazel rolled her eyes, "Don't act like you haven't been bothering Chloe for weeks. Leave her alone."
Red smirked, "Why? Jealous?"
Hazel stood up, glaring down at Red, "No she just doesn't fucking want you."
The redhead chuckled, "Then why'd she agree to go on a date?"
Hazel's face dropped while Chloe sighed, "Will you guys stop fighting?"
She was ignored as the brunette walked over to Red's side to get in her face. The fighting escalated when Red made a snide comment and Hazel threw a punch.
It landed on Red's nose which cracked loudly and started to gush blood. She seethed and lunged at Hazel who was smirking smugly.
Chloe leaped up and pulled Red back, holding her in a tight grip. Hazel took this chance to kick her in the stomach, knocking the wind out of her.
The redhead coughed and folded over while Dizzy and Celia finally grabbed Hazel. Chloe helped Red back to her feet and the older girl relished in the touch.
"You're a weak fucking dirty bitch," Red spit at Hazel as Chloe pulled her away.
The blue haired girl sighed but Red needed to get the last word in. Instead of taking her to the nurse, Chloe brought Red to her dorm.
"Dizzy and Celia will take Hazel to the nurse and I don't trust guys not to fight again," Chloe explained as she pulled her into the room.
Red didn't complain and looked around the room. It was covered in blue, which was expected. The bed was comfy, but it was school-issued, so it was the same as Red's.
Chloe came out of the bathroom with a first aid kit and stood in front of Red. She gently grabbed the taller girl's chin so she was looking up.
Red tried not to react as Chloe started cleaning her cuts but hissed when the cotton hit her open wound. Chloe didn't say anything or act sympathetic.
She showed nothing on her face so Red was unsure if Chloe was mad at her. It was silent other than the sounds of pain that slipped past Red's lips.
When Chloe finished, she got rid of the bloody tissues and put the first aid kit away. As she reentered the room, Red finally spoke up, "Are you mad at me?"
The blue-haired girl looked into her eyes, "I know Hazel started it, but you didn't have to comment back."
"What was I supposed to do? Let her be rude to me?" Red questioned, crossing her arms.
Chloe sighed and sat next to her, "I'm not blaming you or mad but there was ways to deescalate the situation."
Red bit her cheek and looked down at the floor, "I didn't expect it to get physical. I'm sorry."
Chloe's head whipped towards her in surprise, "Sorry? For what?"
Red was confused, "Did you not want me to apologize? I thought I made a mistake."
Chloe shook her head. "No, I wish you went about it a different way. But like I said, I'm not mad."
The room went quiet again and Red tapped her foot against the ground nervously, "So um were you going to text me?"
"I was. It's only been a day, Red," Chloe said, sitting down next to her.
Red nodded, "I just wasn't sure."
Then she stood up from Chloe's bed, trying not to overstay her welcome, "Thanks for cleaning my face. Can't get dates without this beauty."
The blue haired girl only stared at her which made Red shift uncomfortably. She walked to the door and as she gripped the door handle, Chloe spoke, "I'll text you later. We can discuss the details for the date."
Red beamed, wincing when her smile pulled at a cut but not caring, "Talk to later then, Chloe."
— — — — —
Because of that morning, Red decided to opt out of classes for the day. She spend the morning drawing her anger out into portraits of Chloe.
The blue haired girl was starting to become a reoccurring thing in her art. She was starting to take up a space in Red's brain.
Around noon her phone buzzed with a text from an unknown number.
203-123-1234
It's Chloe. Would you like to go out on Friday?
Red smiled and bit her lip before texting back.
To 203-123-1234
Aren't I supposed to be the one planning the date?
Chloe started typing and Red decided to change her contact.
Charming <3
Well, I suppose. But Friday is what works for me, so take it or leave it.
To Charming <3
Damn Charming you play a tough game. But alright I'll free my Friday
Charming <3
You had plans?
To Charming <3
No I've just always wanted to say that
Charming <3
Okay, then. What time?
To Charming <3
6:00 and I'll come to your dorm and pick the place so don't worry about it
Charming <3
See you Friday.
— — — — —
Friday rolled around and Red found herself feeling nervous. She picked this nice place that served food from Cinderellasburg. Chloe loved her family and kingdom a lot, it seemed like the best place.
Her blue bouquet had been personally picked by Red. She'd studied books on flowers so she knew the perfect ones to get.
Red rubbed her sweaty palm on her shirt then switched the bouquet and rubbed her other hand. It was unlike her to be so nervous about something.
She forced her shoulders to relax and took a deep breath before lightly tapping her fist against the door. There were footsteps, then the door swung open to reveal Chloe.
She was wearing a blue dress with her makeup done slightly more extravagant and her hair tied in a bun. Red felt her face turn the color of her hair.
"Hey princess. You look nice," she said, doing her best not to stutter over her words.
Chloe chuckled, "New nickname, huh? Also, thank you; you're not so bad yourself."
Red smiled and held out the bouquet, "This is for you. I picked out all the flowers."
Chloe smiled back, "Thank you double, it looks beautiful."
The flowers were placed in a vase with water then they got in Red's car and the redhead drove them to the restaurant. She hurried to Chloe's side and opened the door with a beaming smile.
The blue haired girl thanked her then they went inside. They got sat down quickly as a waitress was at the hostesses stand.
Red tapped her fingers against the table, "So how was your week?"
Chloe smiled and tilted her head, "I mean I kinda already told you over text."
Red shrugged and leaned forward, "Well maybe there was something you didn't."
Chloe thought for a moment then brightened like a light bulb went off in her head. Red couldn't help but admire her, she looked so gorgeous with a huge smile on her face.
"Oh yeah! My brother is coming to visit next week. I don't get to see him much since he went away to college so I'm excited."
Red let her head rest in one hand, admiring Chloe as she spoke. She kept talking and Red kept admiring.
Their dinner went nice. At the end of the night Red walked Chloe to her dorm.
"Tonight was fun," Chloe said with a smile, her hand on the door handle.
Red smiled back, "Yes it was." She wanted to suggest they go out again, but she wasn't sure how Chloe would react.
They stared at each other for a moment then Chloe turned the door handle. Red watched her walk inside her dorm then sighed and walked back to hers.
— — — — —
Were they going out again? Did Chloe only say she had fun so it wasn't awkward? Did she like Red?
So many questions were running through her mind, even though it had only been a day since their date. She paced back and forth trying to calm her flooded mind but it was to no use.
Her phone buzzed on the bed and she her to leaped onto it.
Princess <3
Would you like to go out again sometime?
Red squealed then made a face, weirded out by herself. She quickly typed back with a big smile.
To Princess <3
Sure Charming. Anytime. I had fun
Princess <3
Meet me at breakfast tomorrow? Not the date yet, just a hangout.
To Princess <3
Of course
Red turned over on her back and held the phone to her chest, a huge smile on her face. She had finally got the girl.
— — — — —
Morning came, and Red woke up an hour earlier than usual. She spent extra time making sure her makeup was perfect and her outfit was cute.
She had an extra 15 minutes which she used to draw then headed down to the cafe. She didn't spot Chloe so she assumed she was in line.
Red got her breakfast and smiled when she saw Chloe sitting down with Dizzy and Celia. She walked over and sat next the blue haired girl.
Dizzy was smiling mischievously, "So how was your date?"
Red wasn't expecting to be hit with that question right as she sat down. She blushed and responded, "It was great," then she looked at the girl beside her, "Chloe's great."
Chloe flushed and lightly nudged her arm. "Okay, flirt," she then turned to Dizzy. "It was good, Diz. I told you, we had fun."
The colorful haired girl shrugged, "Yeah but I wanted to hear how Red thought it was. Anyway... second date possibly?"
Chloe nodded and swallowed her bite of food, "Yes sometime this week."
Red smiled to herself, a heavy blush still on her face. Their moment was interrupted by another tray being slammed into the table.
Hazel glared at Red as she sat down and picked unhappily at her food. The redhead glared back, smirking smugly at the brunette's beat up face.
Red's own face was still healing, but it was mostly covered with the makeup she was wearing.
Chloe rested a hand on her arm and gave her a look that meant 'don't start'. Red didn't say anything and went back to eating her food.
Hazel glared at Chloe's hand that was left on Red and the redhead raised a brow in recognition. She smirked smugly again and shifted a little closer to the girl next to her.
She almost laughed at the way Hazel's grip tightened around her fork, her knuckles turning white. Chloe didn't notice them as she was to busy talking to Dizzy.
Red decided to tune in to the conversation.
"What about you, Chloe? Do you have any plans for today?" Dizzy asked, then shoved some eggs into her mouth.
Chloe shook her head, "I already went for my morning run. I'm doing studying tonight but other than that I don't have anything planned."
Dizzy then turned to Red, "How about you, Red? Any plans?"
The redhead shook her head and Dizzy put both elbows on the table and leaned into her hands, "Well then why don't you just go the date today."
Red flushed, "Isn't that a bit too soon? We just went on one on Friday and it's Sunday."
Dizzy waved her off, "Nah, some people go on like 3-day dates sometimes."
Red's eyebrows raised in surprise. A 3-day date? Wasn't that way too much for a first date?
This would be their second date, meaning Red is the first ever person to score a second date with Chloe Charming. She flushes more at the thought and tries to rub the red away from her cheeks.
Chloe notices it and smirks at her red cheeks. But luckily, she doesn't comment on them, otherwise Red would've died in embarrassment.
Breakfast came to an end as they finished up their food. Chloe and Red separated without a mention of their possible date today.
The redhead wasn't sure if Chloe wanted to go, so she chickened out on texting her.
Around 12:30, there was a knock on the door. Red pushed her sketchbook off her lap and walked to the door.
Chloe was standing behind it, her blue haired tied up in a bun. She was holding a bouquet of flowers towards Red with a smile.
Red felt herself flush, "Very original, Princess."
Chloe playfully rolled her eyes, "You just said that to cover up the fact that you're blushing."
The redhead grabbed the bouquet and didn't comment on Chloe's words. She smirked, knowing she was right.
Red moved from the doorway and looked around for something to put the flowers in. Chloe came in behind her and lightly shut the door.
She looked around admiring all the red things until her eyes spot an open notebook on Red's bed. Curious, she walks towards it and looks at the drawing.
To her surprise, she looks back at herself. The art was amazing, it looked like Red had put a lot of care into it. She picked up the book to admire it closer and traced the details with her fingers.
"Okay! Finally-" Red turned around, shutting her mouth when she saw what Chloe was holding. Her face flushed and she ripped the book from her hands, quickly slamming it shut.
Her face was the color of her hair and she quickly shoved the book into a drawer. Chloe watched her with amusement, knowing the redhead was highly embarrassed.
"Your drawing is really good. It almost looks like a photo," Chloe complimented, watching Red's face growing even more red if even possible.
"How about we just get out of here," Red said, wrapping her fingers around Chloe's wrist and tugging her out of the room.
Chloe let herself be dragged, Red leading them outside. Then she slipped her wrist out of Red's hold and instead intertwined their fingers.
"You don't even know where we're going silly," Chloe said, lightly nudging Red.
Red was still trying to calm to blush on her face and Chloe fidgeting with her fingers didn't help. The shorter girl lead them to her car and held open the passenger door for Red.
"Your majesty," She joked with a little bow.
Red rolled her eyes but the flush on her face gave her away. Chloe shut the door behind her then entered the car on the drivers side.
They drove for about ten minutes before they were parked outside of a restaurant. "You taking me to a Cinderellasburg restaurant was really sweet. I wanted to do the same but they don't have any Wonderland restaurants in Auradon."
Red shrugged, "As to be expected. It's okay, Charming. I like Auradon food."
Chloe opened her door for her and intertwined their hands as they walked into the restaurant. They got seated pretty quickly, taking their respective seats across from each other.
Red looked over the menu, surprised by how many food items this place had. When the waitress came by, she wasn't ready and panicked, picking the first thing she saw she liked.
Chloe order gracefully, having already known what she wanted. The waitress took their menus and Red rubbed her sweaty palms on her jeans.
The redhead's phones vibrated and when she pulled it out to read the text, her stomach dropped.
Stoner
Did you get a second date with Chloe Charming? Wow Red you may actually win the bet
She had forgotten all about it. Red had to call it off, she liked Chloe to much for their relationship to start on a bet. Although it was kind of already too late for that.
"Are you okay? You look like you just saw a ghost," Chloe commented, causing Red to jolt and almost drop her phone.
Her face flushed in embarrassment, "Yeah! Yeah... I'm fine."
Chloe raised an eyebrow, not convinced. But Red didn't even an explanation so she didn't push.
Their lunch went nice. Red chose to ignore the message, she could deal with it later.
Chloe held up the door once again for her and Red flushed and thanked her. They drove back to school in a comfortable quiet, the radio playing lowly in the background.
This time, Chloe dropped Red off at her dorm.
"Thank you for taking me out, I had a really good time," Red said, twisting her hands together.
Chloe smiled, "Of course, I had a good time too."
Then in a split second decision, Chloe leaned forward and kissed Red's cheek. Instantly, her whole face flushed.
The blue haired girl walked away with a smirk. Leaving Red standing there frozen, holding her kissed cheek.
When she entered her dorm she immediately texted Chester.
To Stoner
Can we meet up? I wanna talk about the bet
Stoner
Yeah but only if you bring weed
Red rolled her eyes but pulled out a baggie with pre rolls and snapped a picture.
To Stoner
[picture of prerolls]
Is this good? This is all I got
Stoner
Perfect. Meet me on the roof at midnight
Red flopped down on her bed then set the baggie down on her bedside table. She sighed, trying to think of ways to distract herself until midnight.
She decided to draw and the hours ticked by as her drawing came to life. It was Chloe from today, from when they were in the restaurant. Her face was beaming that perfect smile Red loved.
Her alarm went off at quarter to midnight and she pulled her black hoodie over her head. Once her red hair was safely tucked away, she snuck out the window and climbed to the roof.
It didn't take long to find Chester, he was sitting in there usual spot. She threw the baggie at him, his face scrunching up when it wacks him in the eye.
He scowls at her, "Dude! Watch it! That hurt."
Red rolled her eyes at his pout, "Suck it up. You're fine and luckily I'm even letting you smoke my shit."
Chester's usual grin overtook his face and he pulled a preroll. He light it, took a hit, then handed to Red.
"So what about the bet did you wanna talk about?" Chester questioned, taking another hit when Red handed him back the preroll.
Red signed and leaned back on her hands, "I wanna call it off."
His head snapped towards her with wide eyes, "Call it off!? But you're winning!"
Red shrugged, looking down at the preroll like it was the most interesting thing in the world. "I think... no I know," she swallows, "I like Chloe, like genuinely like her."
Chester's eyebrows raised in surprise, "Shit well I wasn't expecting that. The last person you genuinely liked was-" he then slammed his mouth shut.
He gave her a sheepish smile, "Sorry nevermind."
Red knew what he was going to say. The last person she genuinely liked was Ace. Since then, she hasn't allowed herself to fall for anyone else.
Her jaw clenched and she took a long hit, "It's fine. And I didn't fall for her on purpose. It just... kinda happened."
Chester nodded, "It's okay to fall for another people Red. Just don't get hurt again."
She laughed humorlessly, "Trust me. I'd like to avoid that at any cost."
The mood lightened and they finished their preroll before smoking another. It was around 3am when Red finally crashed in a bed.
— — — — —
The next day she woke up still a bit high but she brushed it off. As she was getting ready she caught herself humming and grimaced.
Since when was she some cheery good two shoes?
Today there was a bounce in her step as she got her food. Then she sat down next to Chloe like she had been doing the last few days but wasn't meet with a greeting.
"Hey, Charming," she said, confused about why the girl was glaring at her.
Instead of replying, the blue haired girl stood up and dumped the rest of her breakfast in the trash before walking off. Red looked at her friends confused only to find them getting up to follow after her.
Dizzy glared at her making Red frown in even more confusion. She swallowed down the pit in her throat. Hazel passed by the table with a smug look on her face.
Red's stomach dropped, it had to be something to do with her. She chased after the pirate and grabbed her shoulder.
"What the hell did you do?" Red questioned, her voice rough with anger.
The brunette ripped around and yanked her shoulder from the other girl's hold, "I just showed her the truth."
A phone was shoved into her face, showing her that night where her and Chester were sitting on the roof of his car.
Immediately, her stomach dropped to the floor. Red dug her fist into her palm, "I called it off."
Hazel tilted her head, "Oh yes I heard you talking last night. Too bad Chloe doesn't know that."
Anger coursed through Red's body and her eyes filled with red. She couldn't think, her body being overcome by anger.
Hazel knew she liked Chloe. She was using an old video against her. A bet she'd *called off*.
She wasn't thinking when she swung but it hit, striking Hazel in the jaw. She knew the pirate wasn't above a fight, considering the last time, so she braced herself.
Hazel aimed for her cheek but Red blocked it and elbowed her in the gut. She doubled over and Red took the advantage to knee her in the face.
Then hands grabbed her from behind which she shoved off. Behind her was another pirate, one of Hazel's friends.
The boy swung, catching Red off guard and managing to get a hit on her. Her cheek began to throb then someone tackled her from behind.
She tried to get up but the male pirate held her down. Hazel repeatedly kicked her in the ribs while Red cried out in pain.
Finally after a few minutes of kicking and a few punches, the pirates left her bruised and bleeding on the ground.
Red tried not to cry as she flipped herself over and managed to get off the ground. Her side ached, it felt like she broke a rib.
She limped to the nurse, using the wall as support. A few kids passed her, earning her strange looks but no one stopped to help.
When she finally collapsed in the nurses office there were a lot of voices but her vision started the blur. There was a ringing in her head then the world fell to black.
— — — — —
The first thing she noticed when waking up was bright light. She grimaced and let her eyes adjust to the bright light.
The second thing she noticed was machines beeping around her and tubes connected to her arms.
She was in a hospital.
"Oh good you're awake," a voice beside her said. That voice made bile rise in Red's throat. She turned her head and was met with the red that haunted her.
Her mother.
The Queen of Hearts had her arms crossed in a pissed off manor. Like Red being injured was an inconvenience to her.
"I'll be going now. I have things to attend to. If I have to come back here again Red I swear to the jabberwocky."
Red swallowed as her eyes meet the Queen's. She was glaring down at her, obviously very pissed off. Red blinked back tears, "Sorry mother. It won't happen again."
The Queen nodded but didn't soften, she never softened. "Good. If I have to come back you won't be allowed back in Auradon."
The door slammed behind the Queen, making Red jump. A few tears streamed down her face as she looked over the empty hospital room.
Footsteps sounded outside of the room and Red quickly whiled wiped her tears. A nurse with a kind smile entered the room. Although her eyes showed worry.
"Hello Red. Your mother doesn't know what happened so we were hoping you could tell us."
Red avoided eye contact, "I fell. But obviously I'm alive so I'm fine."
The nurse frowned, "Sweetie you have a cracked rib. That isn't fine."
Red shrugged, a cracked rib didn't mean anything to her. It wasn't broken, right? So then she was fine.
She huffed and tried to get off the bed, grimacing as her torso ached. The nurse quickly lunged forward and placed her hand on Red's shoulder, pushing her down.
"Sweetie, woah! You must rest. You won't be released for a little while."
Red chewed her cheek and thought of Chloe. Tears sprung to her eyes but she blinked them away. She had to tell her the truth.
"Where's my phone?" She questioned, looking around the room.
The nurse grabbed it from the bedside table and handed it to her. Then she lifted the clipboard that Red hadn't noticed before, "You have a cracked rib and your side is bruised. You also a few more cuts and bruises but those aren't serious they should heal soon."
Red nodded, grimacing as she readjusted on the bed, "When can I be discharged?"

Despite what Hazel had told and showed, Chloe felt bad for ignoring Red that morning. When she really thought it over, it didn't make sense what Hazel had said.
/// Flashback
Hazel had stopped Chloe right outside the cafe that morning, "I need you to watch this."
She shoved her phone into Chloe's face. The video started with Chester and Red sitting on a car smoking something.
"Have you noticed that Chloe Charming never goes on a second date?"
Immediately that made Chloe's heart start to race. Why were they talking about that?
"Um yeah. It's all the boys talk about. 'Oh I'll get a second date with her.' 'No I will!' It's so stupid."
"I'm just saying... I have a bet for you," Chester said with a mischievous grin.
"Are you trying to get me to waste my time trying to get her to date me?"
Chloe's ear started to ring. Waste her time?
Chester shrugged, "I'll do whatever you want for a whole week if you can get her to be your girlfriend. I mean I bet you can't so..."
That was it. It had been a bet. They had bet that Red could make Chloe fall for her. And well she'd achieved her goal.
Red smirked, "Oh but I bet I can. I'll have Charming falling all over me in no time."
She took a hit from the joint then blew the smoke to the side, "I mean it can't be that hard."
The video ended and Hazel gave her a sad look, "I heard them talking on the roof last night. She said she'd break up with you once she gets her prize."
Chloe didn't want to hear anymore she pushed past the brunette and got her food. When she sat down, she blinked back tears, "It was all a bet."
Dizzy and Celia looked at her confused. "What was?" Her cousin questioned, worry in her tone.
"With Red. Chester made a bet that she couldn't date me."
The two girls looked at in shock that melted into sympathy. Then a tray was placed down beside her. "Hey Charming."
She abruptly stood up and tossed her food in the trash. She stormed off to her dorm, footsteps following behind her.
/// Flashback over
Red had seemed so genuine and her art...
Chloe just couldn't help but think maybe something had changed. She waited until dinner time, hoping the could see the redhead before she went in the cafeteria.
But the time she usually showed up past and Chloe figured she'd probably skipped dinner because of her. She ate in silence, Celia and Dizzy shooting her sympathetic looks.
After dinner, she headed straight to Red's dorm and knocked on the door. There was shuffling then the door opened.
Red leaned her weight into the door frame, clutching her side. Her lip was busted and there was a huge bruise that she didn't have before.
Chloe's face dropped, "Red! What happened?"
Red thought it over like she was deciding whether or not to tell the truth. She sighed, "Pirates happened. Can I explain about whatever Hazel showed you? That's not- it's not-"
Chloe cut her off, "You look pale. Let's sit down."
The redhead let her in her room then limped to the, grimacing in pain the whole time. Chloe watched with a worried frown.
Red laid down in her bed and made herself comfy while Chloe threw her shoes off and sat next to her.
"I made the bet weeks ago. I regret it Chloe. Really badly," she grimaced thinking back on her actions, "I'm not... I called it off. Last night and I know I should've done it sooner but I... I forgot. You took over my mind and I like you Chloe... genuinely. Not because of the bet."
The blue haired girl processed the words silently, making Red fidget. Then she leaned forward and gently kissed her forehead, "I like you too, Red. Genuinely."
Red smiled and shifted closer. Her gaze dropped to Chloe's lips and she leaned forward. She was stopped but a finger on her lips.
"Not until your lip heals," Chloe said, placing another kiss on her cheek.
Red pouted, wincing when it pulled at her busted lip.
Chloe laid down and sifted her closer, resting her head on Red's shoulder, "Can we just stay here for a while?"
Red hummed, "Not like I can go very far anyway."

A few weeks passed. Red was healing well but Chloe still fussed over her.
She stopped talking to Hazel and blocked her on anything. Hazel was pissed and tried to weasel her way back in Chloe’s life but the blue-haired girl didn’t let her.
Red’s lip had healed and she was ready. Ready to finally kiss Chloe.
She invited her to her dorm and fidgeted the whole time while she waited. Red wasn’t a very patient person.
Finally there was a knock on the door and a huge smile spread across her face. She threw the door open and pulled Chloe in.
“Hey,” she said, shutting the door behind her.
“Hello there,” Chloe said, giggling at Red’s movement of pulling her in the room.
Then Red’s hands grabbed her cheeks, “Is this okay?”
A huge smile spread across Chloe’s face, “Of course. I think we’ve waiting long enough.”
Their lips finally met. They kissed softly at first but Red was hungry so it grew heated. The two girls pulled back after a few minutes, both heavily breathing.
“I can’t tell if you’re a good kisser or not. I think you need to kiss me again,” Red said, a huge love-sick smile on her face.
Chloe rolled her eyes but still pulled her in for another kiss.
