Work Text:

Red set her eyes on him first.

Luis was tall, strong, and kind. Who wouldn't fall for him?

She started hanging out with him more. Bringing him around when she was with Chloe. Sometimes he was in their room when she got back from practice.

Chloe noticed the way Red looked at him. Lingering looks of longing, the way you look at someone when you have a crush.

For some reason, it cause her stomach to turn in anger. It took her a few weeks to figure it out, but once she did it all made sense.

She was jealous and had a crush on Luis.

It was the only thing that made sense.

She didn't want to crush on the same boy as Red, but the girl had yet to say anything. So technically, he was free game.

———

At their next hang out, Chloe stood on the left side of Luis. Usually she stood beside Red away from him, but considering she had a crush on him, she wanted to spend more time closer to him.

Luis didn't seem to mind and even made a joke that's he's got a lady on each arm. Red chuckled loudly at him, too loud for a joke that wasn't that funny.

Chloe forced out a laugh, though she wouldn't normally have. Red looked over at her like she was studying her, causing Chloe to straighten her posture. She didn't know why but whenever Red looked at her, she just wanted to look her best.

They went to an art museum, something Red and Chloe both enjoyed. Chloe loved admiring the art, and it made Red happy, so it made her happy. The art inspired Red, she loved looking at professional artworks. Some of the ideas she got from them were in little pieces of her own work.

But Luis got bored, so they left after only an hour. Both the girls want to stay longer but they also didn't want him to bored.

They went out to lunch at a burger joint. Red suggested it, which surprised Chloe. She didn't eat meat so Red tended to avoid restaurants that were mainly meat.

She shot her a questioning look but Red waved her off. Chloe would push later, for now, she let it go.

Luis held open the door for both of them, each thanking him as they walked by. He smiled charmingly at them, then let the door go and got them a table.

They were lead to a table with 4 chairs. Luis pulled out the two on the right side then gestured to them. "M'ladies here's your seats."

Red giggled and flushed while Chloe didn't react. She just sat down in the chair shifted forward. Red thanked Luis and sat down, staring at him as he walked.

He treated them both like he was on a date with them. Chloe felt a bit uncomfortable but Red gripped her hand under the table, making her feel better.

Red got a veggie burger, Chloe got a regular burger with no tomato, and Luis got a bacon burger.

Something bumped against Chloe's foot. She looked down to see Luis attempting to play footsie with her. She moved her foot back and he switched to playing footsie with Red.

She frowned, then the familiar jealousness started to bubble in her stomach. She rubbed her foot against Luis' and he went back to her. Red looked a bit disappointed but Chloe was happy as she scooted closer to her.

Luis paid, despite the fact that both girls were princesses and didn't mind paying. They wouldn't even notice the money being gone.

They both tried to pay but Luis refused, and slipping his card to waitress before either princess could. He held the door for them on the way out, this time looking each of them up and down.

Red didn't notice, but Chloe saw his eyes scanning her body. She wanted to knock into him as they walked, to knock him out of it. But she didn't, no matter how much the jealousy was burning under her skin.

Why did he have to focus on her? Can't he look at something else? Anywhere not at her body or preferably the ground.

———

Chloe finally has the chance to spend some time alone with Luis. Red had joined the art club, while usually it was when Chloe had practice, today, Chloe's practice got canceled since her coach is sick.

So she was free and Red was busy. Luis was the obvious choice; hang out with him, get closer, then you get the guy.

It's how it worked in fairy tales right?

They spend sometime together and fall in love. That's how all the fairytales went. That's how all the princesses fell for their prince's.

So that's how she was going to fall for hers. Then maybe one day, she'd lose her shoe, and Luis would pick it up and put it on her foot.

A knocked sounded on the door and she rolled out of bed to open the door. Luis was standing outside her door with a charming smile.

He tilted her head slightly, "Why hello there Chloe, ready to go?"

She nodded, slipping on her shoes and letting him grab her arm. She closed and locked the door then they headed towards wherever he was taking her.

When she'd asked him to hang out because she was bored and Red was in art club, he said he's surprise her with something. She was a little hesitant but agreed when Luis said he'd be there soon.

He dragged her through the halls, slipping his fingers in between hers.

It made her feel.... nothing. She felt more when Red held her hand.

Chloe shifted her hand in his, trying to get comfy against his sweaty hand. Usually, she was all for physical touch. But his hand was clammy and he was squeezing her's too tight.

Luis stopped in front of his room, finally letting go of her hand the unlock the door. Chloe sighed in relief and shook her hand out before rubbing the sweat off on the front of her shirt.

After he unlocked the door, Luis pulled her inside by grabbing her wrist. "Come and sit on the bed. Do you want anything to eat or drink?"

He walked over to a mini fridge sitting in the corner of the room. Chloe shook her head, she didn't want to risk the chance of spilling anything in his bed.

"No thanks, I'm good." She said, kicking off her shoes and sitting on the edge of the bed.

Luis crawled in beside her, taking a big sip of his soda. Chloe shifted to look at him, trying to figure out what he planned for them.

"So what's the surprise?" Chloe questioned, chewing her lip nervously.

Luis looked confused for a second then chuckled, "Oh, right. The surprise was going to my room. Welcome, Chloe, lovely to have you here."

The blue haired girl forced a smile, "Ah... glad to be here."

He patted the bed beside him, "Get comfortable. I'll put something on."

She nodded and laid next to with, making sure their arms weren't touching. Luis turned on the TV and wrapped an arm around her.

Chloe wanted to move, which didn't make sense, he was her crush. So she didn't, even though it felt wrong.

Halfway through the movie, their bodies were pressed together. The main couple on the screen were finally getting close, ready to kiss.

Luis tapped her shoulder and when she turned her head, she was met with him leaving forward. His lips puckered up, eyes shut, leaning for her lips.

He fully leaned forward and kissed her.

But it didn't feel like it should. There was no fireworks or butterflies. She'd never felt anything like that unless she around Red. She never seemed to care about him until Red liked him.

Chloe pulled back from the kiss, having to push him back when he went in for another. He opened his eyes and looked at her confusion.

"I was wrong..." Chloe whispered, pulling back from his hold. Luis looked even more confused and a little bit hurt.

"Chloe? What's wrong?" He asked.

She sighed, trying to think of an easy way to confess that she just realized that she didn't like him. She only thought she did. How do reject someone you flirted with, anyway?

"I'm- I can't do this. It's not going to work," Chloe said, avoiding eye contact.

Luis frowned deeply, "But I thought you liked me. Am I that bad of a kisser?"

Chloe shook her rapidly, "No, no! You're a great kisser. It's just... I realized that I don't like you. I only thought I did."

His eyebrows scrunched into more confusion. Wow this conversation wasn't going great.

The blue haired girl dug her fingers into her palm, "I'm lesbian!"

He looked at her in shock while Chloe slapped her hands over her mouth. Holy shit, holy shit. Everything made sense now.

But Chloe was also terrified of him not accepting her. So she quickly stumbled out of his bed. She grabbed her shoes, ignoring him calling for her, and bolted out of the door.

She wasn't sure if he followed her, she was too focused on just trying to get away. Her chest was heaving as she bolted down the hallway, trying to get to her dorm.

She hadn't even come to the realization that she was gay, until she opened her mouth. And then blabbed to her supposed crush that she was lesbian, also meaning she'd never like him.

When he obviously wanted to date her.

Chloe mind was spinning. She thought all the times she was jealous and realized she wasn't jealous because Red was hands with her crush. She was jealous because Red was touching someone else, and it wasn't her.

She didn't want to be with Luis. She wanted to be Luis.

It was then that she noticed that in her attempt to get away, she'd lost a shoe. Chloe threw her left shoe by the door and curled in her bed, maybe a nap would help.

———

Chloe was woken up by an excited Red, shaking her awake. She yawned and stretched, blinking her eyes to get use to light.

"What's up? Did something happen?" Chloe questioned.

Red nodded, flopping done on the bed next to Chloe. "Luis kissed me and asked me out! Oh and by the way I found your shoe in the hall."

The blue haired girl blinked, processing both statements. She'd worry about the second one later, for now, she couldn't believe Luis would kiss Red right after kissing her.

"He kissed me today too, I don't think he's worth it," Chloe said with a frown.

Red's smile dropped, her face scrunched in anger. "What a player," she said with a scoff.

"Yeah I thought I liked him but I was wrong" Chloe said, lying down in her bed."

"What 'cause he's a dick? Yeah I thought he was cute but he's not worth it." Red said, lying down with her.

Chloe shook her head, "No that's not what I meant. I didn't like him at all, which I thought I did."

Red turned her head, their faces were only inches apart. "Then how'd you think you liked him? What made you think that?"

Chloe turned towards her, making her heart speed up. Gosh how did not realize she had a crush on Red sooner. She had to come up with something to say and fast.

"I... um..." she was blank, Chloe couldn't think of an excuse.

Red raised a brow, "That's not an answer, Princess."

"I was jealous. And I thought it was because I wanted him but it turns out I was just jealous of him." Chloe said, her eyes darting around as she refused to make eye contact.

Red would most likely figure out what Chloe meant, then she'd reject her. But it's okay, they just need to get it done and over with so Chloe can hide under her covers and cry.

The redhead looked a bit confused at her words, "Jealous for who? A girl?"

Chloe chewed her lip and nodded, "Yeah I... realized I'm lesbian."

Red hummed, "That's cool. So who's the girl? I wanna know who your crush on." If Chloe didn't know any better, she'd say Red sounded a bit jealous .

The shorter girl sat up, "Cool? That's it? You don't care?"

Red raised a brow, "Uh why would I? It's your sexuality. Plus that'd be hypocritical, considering I'm bisexual."

Chloe's eyes shot out of her head, "You are?!"

Red chuckled and nodded, "Yes Chloe, I am. Now stop changing the subject and tell me who the girl is."

They were no longer facing each other as Chloe turned her head to look at the ceiling. She dug her teeth deeper into her lip, tasing copper on her tongue."

Chloe whispered so quietly, that Red had to ask her to speak up. She took a deep breath, blowing air in her cheeks then releasing it. "It's you."

She looked panicked and ready to run, but Red grabbed her arm. The redhead was smirking, her head tilted slightly. "You can't just say that and run, boo."

Their lips met and Chloe feels fireworks explode around her. She gasped into the kiss, grabbing Red by the waist.

Red had Chloe's face cradled in her hands, holding her gently as their lips smacked together. The shorter girl pulled back first, her chest heaving.

Chloe paused, "Wait, but I thought you liked Luis?"

Red grinned at her, "Y'know it's possible to crush on two people at once. And I thought, if I can't have you, then I can have Luis. But turns out I can and he's a dick."

Chloe blinked a few times, "How long have you liked me?"

Red only smirked and leaned in for another kiss. Chloe still wanted to know the answer, but didn't detach their lips.
