Summary
(I can assume that this is a popular AU, so this is my take on it!)
What if Yoshiki died instead of Hikaru? Between two long-time friends, his glum expression made everyone (including Yoshiki himself) thought that it made sense that he was bound to go first.
However one summer night would turn a somewhat offensive joke into an unthinkable tragedy.
Indou Hikaru could not even fathom what he saw, his gloomy companion slumped by the riverbank of the path they had walked countless times to and from school.
As he was frozen in disbelief by the time he came back home, it was late at night and it seemed that the day-long search party sent by the worried Tsujinaka family did not see what was right under their noses.
A week passed and to Hikaru's horror (along with instinctual relief?) by his doorstep, he saw his best friend—alive, waiting for him to hang out like everything was normal.
And so, for six long months an internal battle brews within Hikaru a mixture of terror, grief and reluctant complacency to the chilling predicament brought by 'Yoshiki's' return.
