Chapter Text
"Are you fucking STUPID?!"
Lileas' voice rang out as two Seikrets sped through the Ruins of Wyveria, fleeing a very angry Guardian Rathalos.
"You hit that cocoon on purpose!" Lileas glared at her guildmate, who turned his armoured head to yell back at her.
"Did not! You have no proof!" "I literally saw you, JACKASS!"
The two narrowly avoided yet another fireball, Lileas cursing as some wylk crystals around them exploded from the fire.
"I have an idea!" Billiam sounded a little too cheery, making Lileas grip her Seikret's reins a little tighter.
"Is it a good idea?" When she received no reply, she bit her tongue. Damn idiot.
"Alright, spit it out, old man!" Lileas shouted as the two jumped down another ledge, Billiam grabbing his Switch Axe off of his back.
"Let me launch you!" He shouted out, making Lileas' eyes widen. "You're a fucking psycho, you hear me?! Why the hell should I let you launch me!?"
Billiam had his Seikret skid to a stop beneath an underhang, hiding him and his companion briefly behind some hanging vines.
"Because you can stab into its head, make it fall to the ground, then we can bolt it to a Pop-Up Camp!"
Lileas shot him a dirty glare, making Billiam tilt his head, clearly grinning beneath his helmet.
"I hate you. One day, I'll feed you to a monster." "Can it at least be a Gore Magala?"
The two dismounted from their Seikrets, Lileas grabbing her glaive as her companion shifted his weapon into its sword mode.
"You sure this is gonna work?"
Billiam paused, shaking his head.
"Nope, I think we've got a 50/50 chance of you being eaten."
Lileas sighs, she hoped Erik knew she loved him, as she may not return alive.
Billiam stepped out into the open, the Guardian Rathalos looking for the two of them.
"Alright, we're gonna dodge it, get behind it, and I'm gonna launch you as it turns, okay?!"
Lileas grimaced, whatever, not like she had a better plan.
The Rathalos noticed them, letting out a deafening roar, flying in and trying to swoop down with its claws at them.
The two hunters quickly rolled out of the way, Lileas sprinting after Billiam as he shifted, bracing himself.
"Lileas!"
"You're gonna owe me!"
The huntress jumped forward, her metal feet pressing down against the flat side of his Switch Axe, before Billiam swung the weapon upwards, launching her up.
Lileas quickly turned in the air, the Rathalos spinning, its jaws open, flames gathering within its maw.
"Dammit all!"
She stabbed down into its head, the flying wyvern screeching at the sudden pain, trying to shake her off.
Using her full force, Lileas stabbed down harder, the Rathalos falling down to the ground as it faltered due to the pain.
Billiam cheered, whistling for their Seikrets as Lileas quickly pulled her weapon from the monster's head, jumping off and onto her mount's back.
"That was an awful plan!"
"Yeah, but it worked!"
The two hunters quickly ran off on their mounts as the monster struggled to get back up, still in visible pain.
It didn't take long for them to reach the nearest camp, set up within a hidden cave that monsters were far too large to enter.
Lileas sighed a breath of relief as she dismounted from her Seikret, seeing Billiam walking over, raising his hand for a high-five.
Instead, he received a very sudden and sharp punch to the gut, it hitting even through his thick armour.
"Dumbass!" Lileas shook her hand, glaring at him as he steadied himself once more.
The two of them were quiet for a moment, before Billiam chuckled.
"That was sort of fun, you gotta admit." He reached up, removing his helmet, smiling when he saw Lileas' reluctant nod.
"I'll cook something, and no, you don't get to pick. We're having fish." Lileas stalked past him, moving to set up a small grill by their tent.
"Oh come on! We had fish last time!"
Billiam grabbed a stool from the tent, sitting down at the other side of the grill, placing his Switch Axe and helmet by his feet.
Lileas ignored the older man as she began to get to work preparing food for both of them after the stressful moment they'd endured.
"You can pick next time, you owe me, remember?" Billiam nodded, brushing his long grey hair out of his face, running a hand over his beard.
"Suppose so, just don't go poisoning my portion, 'kay?" He rolled his shoulders, Lileas only nodding in reply.
The only sounds were the fire and Lileas cooking, the two hunters allowing themselves to relax after their narrow escape from the angry guardian.
"Fabius was back at Suja yesterday."
Billiam sighed as he heard Lileas' words.
"What did my brother want? You wouldn't mention him unless he asked for me." He looked at the younger hunter, a smile on Lileas' face.
"He asked how you were doing, actually. Just because he's technically our boss doesn't mean he doesn't care about you as his younger brother."
"Every time that guy comes to me it's usually to nag at me for something. Not handing in reports, being rude to other hunters, scaring Nata…"
Lileas shook her head, beginning to serve up the food for the two of them. "That's because you're an asshole most of the time. May I remind you your daughter avoids you like the plague?"
Billiam nodded, taking the food from Lileas.
"Yeah… but tell him I said I'm fine."
"I told him you fell off a cliff in the Windward Plains. He laughed." Billiam grimaced as he recalled the memory from a week ago.
"How kind of you." As he ate, Lileas watched him for a moment.
"Hey, Billiam?" "What?"
She smiled.
"Keep hunting with me, won't you?" Her words made him pause, looking at his guildmate.
"You're the only one who I enjoy hunting with, you make it fun." Lileas grinned at his words, knowing it was because she was the only one who put up with his crap.
Billiam rolled his eyes at her expression, resuming his eating.
"Next time, mmfh, I'll aim to launch you into a monster's mouth."
"There won't be a next time, and don't speak with your damn mouth full, you animal!" She kicks his leg, making him kick her right back, the two continuing this like children.
