It’s all in the cards
“Your turn, Hunt.”
Hunter having been staring at his hand, the cards there for a while now with his current playing partner getting a tad antsy about Hunter not making the move.
“I am thinking.” Almost a low growl responded.
“Sure you are.” Crosshair let out a breathy chuckle, not caring about Hunter’s mood as it was beginning to more on the anxious side. “But right now, you need to put something on the table. Be that a card or then… well, you get the gist, Hunt.”
Yes, they were playing for keeps, meaning strip Sabacc. And Hunter, well, he was loosing.
Then again, in this game the two were playing together at the moment, guess there really were no losers. Key being in the word - strip.
“Cross!!!”
Yeah, Hunter really was loosing and rather royally so too! As there was no way Hunter could turn the tide in his advantage no matter how hard he supposedly was thinking about it. His hand filled with cards so poor… well.
The sergeant already down to his socks and skivvies, the man having been dealt bad hands three times in a row during this game and somehow, Hunter kept thinking things would change.
Pure madness it was!
Crosshair’s toothpick changed position, the stick seemingly having a mind of its own as it twirled in the sniper’s mouth rather suggestively, more so right now.
Hunter could easily blame the karking toothpick for his bad luck. But deep down Hunter knew he was not a very good card player. And as to why he had agreed to this, game? Well… guess Hunter really thought he could win every once in a while, even against Crosshair, the best card player this side of the galaxy.
Then again, even if Hunter lost, he would win… so there was that. His shebs would become the property of the victor, that being Crosshair. So Hunter really wasn’t loosing per se. But there was also the matter of saving face or then it was simply a matter of pride for Hunter? Either or, he really did not want to lose for once!
Then again being honest to himself, Hunter had lost his pride along his virginity to Crosshair a very long time ago, so that point too as they said, was mooter than moot!
And yet, here Hunter was, huffing and puffing internally, trying to wish his hand of cards to be better. So much more better!
Ah, to have even one win every full blue moon!
“Hunter?”
It sounded like more an order and guess in a way, it was.
“Fine! Fine Cross!!! I fold!”
Showing his hand, it was… to put it mildly, a really bad one. Worse than the others had been so far for sure.
Crosshair could not help the smirk forming, or rather, the wicked coy smile falling onto his lips.
Guess the sniper had known since they sat down to play, that Hunter would lose. He usually did when playing against Crosshair or any other member of the family for that matter. Hunter really was that bad at Sabacc.
“And you, my dear, lose!”
Crosshair placed his own cards on the table.
“Idiots array!”
“Again??? That was the third time, Cross!”
But suspecting Crosshair of foul play was also moot, as Cross did not need to cheat.
“What can I say, Hunter, I am a natural.” He really was that, a natural card shark.
“A natural pain in the ass more likely!” Hunter huffed.
“Your pain and you love it! Admit it Hunter!”
“Yeah, guess I do.” Hunter too was smiling now too, the loss already forgotten as his mind filled with images of all the ways the pain would be on his shebs as courtesy of Crosshair but of course.
“So, Hunter, you ready to become the property of the victor?” Not that Crosshair really needed to ask, it was the agreed payment, the name of the game after all.
“I am quite ready, my dear.” Hunter was purring now, moving around the table and seating himself right there in Crosshair’s lap.
“Well then, my sweet, sweet Hunter, I shall claim my reward tout suite!”
“Speaking in tongues I see.”
“Indeed I am, and I would love to speak to your tongue as well.”
They both laughed at that, stupid puns flying in the air.
The kissing followed suit as well, their little game of cards all but forgotten as it was followed by a very different kind of a game they would play.
After all, to the victor, went the spoils.
