Back to the beginning, front to pass, the only thing remaining was the prophecy of Nostradamus, but it didn’t happen how she ever expected it to end.
Famine devil lurked inside a run down shack, scared of the outside world, it was scary outside.
The forest was scary, the city was scary, everything was scary.
She hid her head inside her crossed arm and waited, a flock of bats came by, looking for anything remotely alive.
The prophecy of Nostradamus shouldn’t have happened, it shouldn’t have ever happened… not like this.
Now that it was here, maybe it wasn’t so bad after all, the age of devils.
Her belly grumbled, long and loudly, resonating through the city beyond. Like a ravenous beast, she was famished and wanted to eat, she needed to eat.
Her shack blew up with tons of insects, bats, rats and other critters ready to eat.
One single glance and they disappeared, Famine had her hands filled with rotten meat, insects flesh and mammal bones she gulped by the gallons, she was way too hungry to complain about the awful taste.
If only things didn’t end up like this, if only she could still taste the delicious flavors humanity developed, if only there remained a single humans still alive to cook a meal for her, for as much as she loved food, she was never able to cook a proper meal for herself, how could she ever when any ingredients she picked ended up in her belly.
The taste of blood down her throat, the ticklish fur, the innumerable exoskeletons of bugs that she gulped down uncontrollably, her tearful eyes begging for any sort of respite from this hell.
She never thought power could feel this good and bad at the same time, with the perish of her big sister, she gained a huge surge of power, more than anything she ever had, even more than the potato famine, even more than anytime in history.
She was now the most powerful devil in history, even more so than any primal fear, but with it came a ravenous hunger to eat her fill.
After sucking the skin off her fingers, she still felt hungry, hunger beyond her imagination, she could eat a horse and never be satisfied.
She still felt a burning on her skin, a mark she got, one of allegiance to some unknown devil, it didn’t disappear even though she couldn’t remember which devil gave her this mark.
No matter, she staid in the now destroyed shack, prey to the elements, and the unending hunger that kept her awake each moment of every day, this was her life now.
She didn’t know how long she could last, how long she’d keep her sanity before losing any form of control over herself, before she engulfed the world in her belly, she’d probably still not be filled, she’d probably never be filled again, and that was her new reality in this world, a world of devils, the new age of devils predicted by Nostradamus.
She never thought she’d be so lonely in such a place, missing her sisters so very much.
Flaps in the wind, turmoil in the soil, it came relentlessly, the vermine looking for a free meal at this run down shack of hers.
Devils came, the rat devil, the crow devil, the locust devil that still had yet to reattach his arm.
They all came to finish what they had to, they ate the whole of hell, they weren’t about to stop now, they would be the king of this earth before turning on each other in an infinite cycle of being eaten, for eternity.
When one of the devil was about to strike Famine devil down, it bursts open at the abdomen, chainsaws coming out of it and slashing at every other devils.
They didn’t have time to reattach their head that it was gone, gulped down by an insatiable juggernaut with a chainsaw atop his head.
The berserker rampaging through this large group of devils, relentlessly mowing them down, didn’t stop for anything, a blow to its arm from these super powered devils simply amplified its rage.
It chowed down, slicing a piece of devil, eating it and pulling its cord firmly stuck on his chest, regrowing his missing limbs with each time it pulled on it and continuing the rampage.
It kept going, and mowed down the last of these devils, the hundreds of them that came for the poor little girl in the shed.
The chainsaws were sparkling red with the blood of its victims, but its clear this thing, whatever it was, suffered a lot of damage. It regressed, slowly shedding the metallic armor on its body to reveal a small dog-like creature, blond fur, with the chainsaw characteristic of his design atop its head.
It laid down, exhausted and weak, it needed blood to keep going, to regenerate the clear lacerations on its belly.
Famine devil was incredibly curious, what kind of savior could that be? It’s not like she was in any real danger, getting eaten by these devils would have made her stronger actually, she could have siphoned the life out of these devils from within their own stomach, but she appreciated the kind gesture of this devil to have saved her. “S-Sorry, I didn’t help you in your battle…”
To think this devil was powerful enough to face off against her own children like this, they had far outclassed any primal fear until this point… just what kind of devil was it? What was his name?
For now, it was hurt and weak, looking up to her with pitying eyes, she couldn’t understand why this creature would feel this way towards her, she had to ask him.
She slid her nail across her palm, from which poured some blood that went into its mouth. It delected from this meal, regenerated its wounds and sat down in front of her, barking up to its new master.
Famine devil’s stomach growled, it looked yummy, like an hot dog she could swallow in one go. She sat back down in her shack, it didn’t matter, this world was done, the apocalypse realized, even if no more devils, no more humans, nothing existed, this was her new home, unable to die, unable to live truly, she could only wait until her mind expired.
“Thanks for the food.”
Famine devil looked around, who spoke just now? There was no one around, she was pretty certain there existed no more humans on the surface of this earth, no more devils either, just who was it?
The small, dog-like creature resting on her lap, felt warm.
“That was my dream, to be fed some good grub, seems easy enough right? Except I’m way too powerful.”
Famine devil empathized with her fellow devil, she couldn’t even control her own hunger. “I didn’t want for any of that to happen… my children slaughtered the world over… now there’s only you and me left…”
She tried saving humanity, how was she to do so? It didn’t matter then, she just had to, by any means necessary. Now, it didn’t matter anymore, they couldn’t be brought back.
“Do you want to bring them back? Your children? Humanity?”
Famine devil lifted her head to look at this dog, its chainsaw pointing towards her. “That’s impossible, whenever my sister got erased by… by… whenever she got erased, she brought with her the only means for devils to come back, and with them, the only means for humanity to survive…”
To think of it, this dog did look incredibly familiar, it had a yummy texture, a tasty appearance, she never met it, but she could tell it was strong by its appearance alone.
The dog got on her knees, looking down on her self. “I used to make contracts with your kind. You realized my dream, in exchange, I’ll realize yours.”
How did he plan to do so? It’s not like he could rewind time, could he?
“I know how you feel, I also lost something great to me, something I’ll never get back.”
Famine devil had a tingling in her stomach, a little bit of hope he said the truth, and the food she craved could make a comeback. “What’s your name, little one, you look a lot like something I used to know, but can’t remember…”
As she racked her brain more, she could unveil the memories that were blocked somehow, memories that were erased. “…Chainsaw man.”
The little guy looked at her incredulously. “Chainsaw man? That sounds cool, I think I like it.”
His name was erased, but not himself, that was definitely chainsaw man, but not at the same time.
The only devil that’d be capable of defeating her children, beside herself, could only be a remarkable devil of his stature, to think he still existed…
Wait a minute, how come she still remembered her children if they were eaten by chainsaw man? Weren’t they erased?
The dog like creature sprouted feathered wings on its back, a blinding white supernaturally bright. “My name may very well have been erased, I don’t mind, what matters is what I can do here and now.”
its body contracted violently, flattening on a large surface forming a bright white door. Clouds could be seen seeping out of the interstice.
If it was hell on earth, then what else could there be? Could there really be an heaven for them to explore?
She opened the door to an empty place, there was cages in the corner with her children locked inside gnawing at the bars but still unable to come out. “What is this place?”
The door behind her shut, and the dog like creature reformed behind her, following her. “I don’t know.”
Famine devil didn’t belong here, but she couldn’t feel her hunger in here, it was peaceful. “How come you can do that? There existed only hell for the longest time, there doesn’t exist an heaven.”
There didn’t exist an heaven… until now that is. “I don’t know why, I just do.”
Famine devil, with the help of this little thing, she wasn’t sure calling it a devil would suit it fairly, maybe it looked much more like an angel, maybe that’s what could help save humanity, maybe that’s what will bring good food back. “Let’s make a contract, I’ll feed you as much as you could ever want, in exchange, bring back humanity with me. Be my dog!”
Famine devil liked dogs after all, they let themselves starve whenever their owners weren’t around, they gnawed after bones, sucking the marrow from its innard, and could often use their nose to find great treasures and tasty food.
For some reason, she was right, this wasn’t a devil, because he accepted the contract willfully. “Deal!”
Together, angel and devil, dog and owner, chainsaw man and Famine devil, undertook the task of reversing the effects of Nostradamus prophecy…
…Not realizing that the path taken to avoid fate is always the one sealing it.
Future devil looked with glee from his cage. “How come you make the worst choices every time. Teach me your secret, chainsaw boy.”
Even though the concept behind this little angel got erased, it still exists, it’s still alive, it’ll still have to suffer, before the king of terror descend.
End of Chainsaw man arc.
