Eclipse was leaning against some tree in the park, smoking. He was waiting for ruin, who was 5 minutes late, they needed to discuss the show so they chose to meet up in the park.
“You know smokings bad for you, right?” Ruin walked up to Eclipse leaning sideways against the same tree.
”Maybe for you but not me.” Eclipse lifted his mask to take another hit his cigarette and blow out the smoke.
”You know you can take your mask off, we’re in a park at night.” Ruin was right no one would be around to see Eclipses face, but it was still in public someone could see him and he didn’t want to risk it.
”Okay you can keep it on. So, you think there’s a way to convince Ballora not to be as reckless with her performances. She’s even started roping you in to them.” Ballora asked to Eclipse to help her with performances like holding her in the air with strings, you know pretty easy stuff not much in the actual performances.
“Well technically I’m just a prop in her performances.”
”Eclipse.. no I mean after the whole almost dying thing she has dialed back, I’m just worried what if your powers fail and she falls and really hurts herself.” Eclipse had considered this he was worried that he might get distracted or if he was tired and his powers don’t keep her up.
“I could try and convince her to try and not go too high up.”
”Oh yea that would lower my worry a lot.” Ruin rubbed his eyes with one hand. He seemed really stressed lately.
”Sorry if I’ve seemed stressed lately,” can he fucking read minds now.. “,it’s just.. I heard that apparently Rusty and Puppet are coming to astral city and.. I don’t really want to see them.” Now Eclipse really missed Puppet, but after hearing what she did.. he could go without seeing her.
”And I know Puppet didn’t know I just.. I keep thinking back to that day, he lied to her with such ease that I’m scared he’s going to try and convince I’m not me…” Ruin seemed really down, Eclipse saw tears were forming in his eyes.
“And don’t get me started on Rusty, I hope that gator rots.” Ruin started crying.
”I mean.. he knew it was me and told Puppet that I was a monster..” Ruin put his face into his hands and sat on the ground.
”I’m sorry for dumping this all on you.. I just.. I just wanted to tell someone.” Eclipse sat next to Ruin.
”It’s fine Ruin, you’ve let me vent about my kids,” Eclipse laid a hand on Ruins shoulder, “you should be allowed to vent about your.. ex-lover?”
”Oh yeah that asshole doesn’t have another chance.” Ruin laughed a bit after saying that.
“We probably should go back to talking about the show,” Ruin adjusted his position to criss cross applesauce, “Have you finished that script yet?”
”Oh, yeah I have.. but I’m going to be honest. I liked doing the stories of us ‘meeting’,” Eclipse did air quotes around meeting since it was really not them meeting for the first time, “but it was more interesting then the scripts because it’s our lives.”
”I’m going to be honest, I did like how you told the stories. It made them more real since they happened.” Eclipse realized that his hand was still on Ruins shoulder, he quickly removed it and turned away from Ruin. Ruin turned his head to face Eclipse.
”You know Ive been meaning to ask you,” Eclipse turned back to face Ruin, “were you and Roxanne ever like a thing?”
”Oh, well not really.. mostly because I kind of gave chica back her memories and her and Roxanne got back together.”
”So that’s why you keep telling Ballora that Monte will remember her one day, huh?”
“Okay well yes, but the problem with Monte’s memory and Chicas is, Chicas was a robot thing, and Monte’s is a magic thing. Two very different things but I still think I can do it”
“Fair fair.. wait do you think Roxanne knows about the kids?”
”By now probably… can we change the subject?” Eclipse was got a little sad from talking about his kids.
”Yeah we keep getting off track from talking about the show..”
”So, any new ideas for you?”
“I have one idea and that’s a comedy bit. But I need the producers to agree to it..”
”They probably will.” After Eclipse said that they both got pretty quiet, it was the dead of night the only light was coming from the moon, which was full. They both sat there awkwardly for a second. Maybe this is the perfect time for Eclipse.
”So.. is there anyone that you might like-“ before Eclipse could finish, Ruin lifted his mask and kissed him then pulled back. They sat in silence again..
“I’m sorry that was too much, I’m sorry.” Ruin started to curl up. Eclipse was just sitting there, in thought, when he grabbed Ruins face and lifted it to look at him.
“Eclipse?” Eclipse was just staring at Ruin, then he leaned in and kissed him. Ruin was shocked at first but then he just leaned in to the kiss. They backed away after a few seconds.
“Well that answers my question.” Ruin started to laugh and Eclipse joined in. They sat there for a second before Ruin got up.
“Well I should probably get home.”
”Oh yea you’re right” Eclipse stood up too. They just stood there for a second before Ruin kissed Eclipse again then he flew off. Eclipse stood there for a second before smiling, putting his mask down, and walking away.
