Jean came home from the office later than usual today, the day was tiring, dealing with paperwork for a case that took hours. The apartment was quiet, he slipped his shoes into the shelf beside your smaller pair. He knew it was late and you were probably exhausted and asleep. He passed by the kitchen, noticing a small yellow sticky note on the microwave.

"Made your favourite today, baby.. Love you"

-Yours always, [Name] <3
Inside it was a plate of french onion pasta. The sweet caramelized smell of onions and cheese filled the room as he heated it up.

He found your snuggled up form in the bed rolled in a blanket burrito, your messy hair popping out from the covers. "Hey pretty girl.." He carefully brushed your hair away from your face. “Made me dinner even when you’re this tired, huh?” His lips met your forehead in a soft, loving kiss. Warm, tired hands held your cheek like it was glass. He stopped when he felt cold tracks under his fingers running down your eyes to your chin. Sweetheart, were you crying? You were hurting when he wasn’t there.

You woke up a bit later, eyes a bit puffy. Trying to move, you feel a warm hug from behind. “You awake, beautiful?” “Jean?” He was lying behind you, arms around you carefully. “Did you have dinner?” He smiled, “Yes love, but I want to ask you something.” You turn to him, eyebrows furrowed in a way he found so cute. “Did you have a bad day?” You hesitated, eyes drifting away to the moonlight shining on the walls. Then, slowly a small nod of your head.

Jean’s arms tightened around you. “You can tell me if you’d like, might make you feel better.” He watched as you shifted closer pressing your face in his chest. “Am I ugly?” He frowned. “Never baby. Did someone say something to you?” He felt you shake your head. “I see other girls at work, on the park., they all look so effortlessly gorgeous, then I look in the mirror and its..” you shrugged. “Meh..”

Ugly? Not my girl, not ever. He had seen the way you move to him in crowded spaces, trusting him. How you’d gone out of your way to make dinner even when you had a bad day. You were literally an angel sent from heaven.

You felt like a petty child for telling this to him. Like you were being ungrateful, you had a body that worked right? Even if it wasn’t to your own high standards.

Jean laughed, which made you pout at him. All he could think of was how cute that pout was and how your eyebrows curved into a serious expression. "I'm sorry love, you're not.. Meh.. just a bit messy sometimes."

Your pout turned into a glare as you playfully whack his head. "Meanie!"

His hands moved to your cheeks, tilting you to look at him. “You’re the prettiest girl in the word to me. Because you have a beautiful, caring heart.” You scoffed. “You’re biased.” “I have amazing taste sweetheart, are you doubting me?” You were about to argue further when his lips shut you up with a soft kiss. He then continued to pepper your face with little kisses, one to your cheek then the tip of your nose and another to the corner of your lips. You started to giggle. “Jean.. baby it tickles!” “I’ll only stop if you take it back.” Then a kiss to your jaw his hands found your ribs and began to tickle you from there, “Fine fineee” “Fine what, beautiful?” A kiss to your neck making you giggle louder “Fine I guess I’m not… Meh.”

"Without you, I'd be miserable, darling. You bring so much love and happiness into my life you know that?” You smiled at him. “I guess I should make you food often.”
