    Yelena, a solitary mermaid, has spent centuries preferring to be distant from her own kind in her little cove. She possesses an obsidian blade and a gift that makes people drown themselves for her.

    Then comes an intruder. A man on a surfboard. He is annoyingly warm and completely immune to her gift. Which makes sense, because Bob is not only a man: He's a Sky God on holiday, and he's decided the furious mermaid who just tried to drown him is the most interesting thing he's found in several millennia.
