Tree

Summary:

A poem about holding on to the memory of good times.

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Occasionally, I visit the old tree
Where we’d sit and giggle with glee
Young and carefree, is what we were
Stuck to each other’s side like a burr

What separated us wasn’t enmity
It was the allure of the big city
I encouraged you to go
Now you’re someone I don’t know
