Work Text:
Pierrot stood at the block of the street, by a gas station, handing out flyers and doing small performances, trying to avoid his advertising mate.. It was around mid winter in the town they were in. Pierrot hated the cold, it made his skin itch and his bones hurt. Thank goodness his outfit had a bunch of layers.
He was about to give someone a flyer when this guy grabbed his shoulder. Pierrot wipped around, waving hi to the man before he got shoved. "You freak! Ya keep leaving your posters for your freaky show and people keep goin' missing!" The man yelled once Pierrot hit the floor...Great, this again. Pierrot refused to fight back as he was yelled at and beat up, he didn't want to be seen as violent and hurt the man..
Once the man left, Pierrot sat there for a minute, preparing his body for the stinging pain. He could do this, he's done worse to himself. He wiped the tears that threatened to fall, and quickly stood, his world suddenly spinning as he held onto the wall for stability.. He groaned before he coughed into his glove, wetting it with a bit of blood. He scoffed, letting go of the wall and walking out of the ally.
Pierrot walked down the sidewalk, looking at the pavement as he walked.. "Oh, Pierrot!!!" He heard a voice call out.
Oh great..
"My, you look awful!!" Harlequin said as Pierrot looked down at him, already getting angry with his co-performer. He bared his teeth as he stepped back, despite knowing Harlequin would never actually hurt him physically. "Well, I found this gift card- Well, more like stole but who cares! For a restaurant a few blocks from here. And I thought we could go? My treat~!!" Harlequin said as he showed Pierrot the card.
Pierrot raised an eyebrow at the green one, unsure if this was just a prank and it was to put his guard down or.. He then realized how hungry he was, maybe that played into how he saw stars earlier. He hesitated before he sighed, nodding. "Oh, Perfect!!" Harlequin smiled, eyes lighting up. grabbing Pierrots wrist and easily dragging the taller, catching Pierrot off guard.
They soon arrived at the restaurant- More like cafe... Which was closed for the next 15 minutes for lunch. "..Aw, too bad.. I guess we're waiting." Harlequin said as he leaned against the wall. Pierrot just stood there awkwardly, scratching his wrist through his outfit. "What'cha gonna get when we get in?" Harlequin asked, fully aware Pierrot wouldn't answer.
Pierrot turned to the wall that had menus for delivery and mailmen on the side of the wall and started to look it over. "I Think I'll get the Angels Paradise.." Harlequin said, pointing to a strawberry dessert that was overly pink. Pierrot paused, turning to the other before he shoved him lightly. "What??? It looks good!! Ohh, did I remind you of your Angel, Columbina??"
Pierrot just stared at him, holding his hands in a fist to contain his rage. "Hmm.. Got nothing to say?" Harlequin chuckled as he looked back at his own menu. When Pierrot looked back at his, He felt sick at the sight of that dessert.. the artificially colored red syrup, the way the pink strawberries insides would glisten...Oh he felt he was gonna vomit when he then coughed again.. Still blood, that man must've kicked him hard.
The two stood there awkwardly in silence, Pierrot leaning against the wall for stability, Why did he agree to this, he should've just declined and went to Doctor.. The cafe opened, the worker immediately going quiet at seeing who they were. The two were seated as the waitress asked what they wanted to drink. "I'd like some water for now, thanks." Harlequin nodded as he winked at her. Pierrot just pointed at the strawberry milk, the waitress immediately getting the idea that he couldn't talk once she went to get their drinks.
The two sat at the booth across from each other for a few minutes before Harlequin got up and sat next to Pierrot. Pierrot immediately jumped, staring him down. "Oh quiet, the establishment will give a discount if we act like a couple-!" He whispered, wrapping an arm around Pierrot.. Harlequin was always touchy...Pierrot whimpered softly when Harlequin grabbed his arm a little too tightly, making the fabric rub against his more fresher cuts. "Please let go.." He mumbled, squirming.
Harlequin stared at him quizzically, Wether because he was upset he spoke or confused at why he deemed it necessary to speak was up for debate. Harlequin slowly moved his hand from Pierrots arm and instead moved it to his hand, holding it lightly. Pierrot sighed softly, easing his body against the booth seat. The waitress then came back with their drinks. "Are you two ready to order?" She asked, looking at the two. "Of course! I'll have the.. Angels Paradise.. And he'll have the tiramisu!" Harlequin said as he smiled at her. "Oh-! And uh, do you have any pain meds back there?" He added.
Pierrot just stared at him, blinking in confusion. "Of course! And since you two are a couple, You'll get a 25% discount today and two complimentary couples donuts!" The waitress said, as she wrote all that down and left. "Bingo. Plus I love donuts." He smirked at him as Pierrot was just utterly Confused. "You remind me of a donut, you know?" Harlequin said casually. "Wha-I.. Why??" He whispered, trying to not loose his voice. "Guess." Harlequin said, moving his hand to Pierrots thigh.
Pierrot stared at the hand on his thigh in confusion, did Harlequin really want him to guess..? He thought about it, utterly stumped till he thought of it through a different perspective once a different waiter had set the plate down with the donuts with pink glaze and white heart sprinkles. "Because.. When a donut is made, its full and complete, till its heart or center is taken out and then it becomes dressed up to look nice despite how it may feel about having something taken from it?" He said softly..
Harlequin just started at him as if he wasn't expecting a true and honest answer. Before he laughed, still with the hint of mocking but a decent amount of sounding genuine. "Oh wow! You really are observant? Or maybe you just try to find meaning in meaningless things?" He smiled at Pierrot as the taller was struggling with what he said.
"But, you're wrong." Harlequin said, taking a bite of his donut and handing Pierrot his. "What I meant was, i always wanna put my dick into one of these, You know?" He smirked at Pierrot, making the other gasp audibly. "Ew! Ew!" He said as he pushed the others hand off of him, scooting away a little. "Awh come on! Its just a joke.. Or is it?"
"We're in public-!!" Pierrot whispered as he removed his gloves to reach for his donut. He seemed to look down at it with hesitation and disgust befor he took a small bite of the fried dessert, his pupils turning into small hearts from the excitement from the taste. "..Thats really good.." He mumbled, a tiny smile creeping to his face. Harlequin stared at him, wondering when the last time he saw his other performer like this.
"Y-Yea. Why do you think I like them? You really think I'd like something nasty?" Harlequin said once he looked away, his voice wavering slightly. Pierrot continued to take small bites of his donut, savoring the sweet taste. "What may be gross to you could be good to me... And vice-versa.." Pierrot said as he was done, scooting back to him carefully.
Harlequin wrapped his arm back around the taller, being wary of his arms as that seemed to make him uncomfortable.. Or pained, he noticed Pierrot used to only go mute when uncomfortable, so the latter must've been the case. "..." The two sat in silence as they continued to wait for their food, occasionally sipping the drinks they ordered. "..Is your arm ok?" Harlequin asked before he could catch himself.
Pierrot immediately froze for a second, before he looked at him.. Was his pain that obvious? "I-I mean, Shit.. I don't mean to intrude..You just seem hurt." He adds as Pierrot continues to stare.. "Um..Uh.." He just blinked before he rolled up his sleeve, just to his mid forearm was enough to explain why.. "Oh..Oh goodness.." He heard Harlequin mutter as he had turned his head away, the sight of the marks and scars made him sick..
"Pierrot.." Harlequin immediately rolled the others sleeve back down, his tone holding a majority of concern..But he noticed the twinge of disappointment..He was very familiar with disappointment.. "Those look fresh..O-Or at least a day or so old- How bad did you claw yourself that it takes that long to regenerate?!" Harlequin started to question as Pierrot looked away, unsure if he was angry at Harlequin or himself.
"I-"
"So sorry for the wait! We had to make a new tiramisu. So! The Angels Paradise for you, And the fresh tiramisu for you! Have a gooc meal Sirs!" The waitress walked off, setting the pain meds on the table yet either forgetting to announce them or not wanting to embarrass the two. "...Take it. Then eat your food. I haven't seen you eat at any of our recent dinners." Harlequin said after he opened the packet that contained two medicine tablets.
Pierrot stared at the pills momentarily before he slowly grabbing them from Harlequin and swallowed them down with some of the milk. "No wonder your body hasn't regenerated those, it probably has little to know energy to do so! Its a miracle you don't pass out on stage." Harlequin continued as he took a bite of his dessert, Pierrot poking at his own.. He tried to tell himself that Harlequin was concerned and possibly didn't know that what he was saying was a bit rude but..
He looked at Harlequin and saw that some of the syrup from his dessert got on his cheek. Pierrot straighted a little and leaned in slightly. "Pierrot, what are you?-!!"
Lick
"..." Harlequin just stared at him, now stunned. Pierrot could see the red blush form on Harlequins face, it made him so happy, his pupils turning to hearts again as he stayed close to the other. He didn't entirely understand why he suddenly felt attached to the poison one but, he didn't entirely mind, it took his mind off the pain in his limbs, the way he hated himself..
"What the hell.." Harlequin finally muttered, setting his fork down. The two stared as Harlequin struggled what else to say. "I thought you hated me..?" He said as Pierrot just got closer somehow. "Wha-Why do you love me? I killed your girlfriend-!!"-Almost the exact line my friend said- He stuttered out as he leaned away a little. "Can we swap? Yours tastes good." Pierrot muttered as he looked at the others dessert.. He didn't feel sick by the sight now, he actually felt like he wanted to eat..Like he was given a reason to..
"Yea, sure. take it." He gave Pierrot the fork, watching him nod in thanks as he ate it like a man who hasn't eaten in days..Which is probably the case. Harlequin watched the other, grabbing the tiramisu that Pierrot had initially ordered, eating that instead. He didn't mind Pierrot suddenly being lovey-dovey, he was just confused.. "Guess that wasn't pain-killers they gave us, more like a love drug." He joked to himself as he subtly reached for Pierrots free hand again, being careful of his wrist.
"...Thank you for trading.." Pierrot mumbled, finishing the last bite. leaning close to him again. "Eh, no big deal. The strawberrys will probably do you some good anyway." Harlequin said as he smiled, shrugging. "..If you ever feel like hurting yourself again.. You can come to me. I kinda understand that it might be hard to stop so suddenly but.. Even just toning it down can be one step closer to quitting.." Harlequin muttered as Pierrot nodded.
"So! Was your meal good? Ready to pay??" The waitress came up and asked, setting down the check. "...$23.56.." Harlequin examined, The gift card had around $30.. Phew.. Harlequin gave the woman the gift card, Telling her to shred it as he won't need it. The two performers stood up and left, thanking the waitress for her work.
"We better run before they find out that the gift card wasn't in my name."
"What-?"
"I stole someones credit card." Harlequin gigged as he grabbed the red ones face and kissed him softly, smirking before he grabbed Pierrots wrist, running to their circus grounds to get ready.
