Chapter Text

Long ago, there was a child and a girl.

The girl was there for the child, even when their mother was too busy for her.

The child would cry for hours and hours, and the girl helped her through it all.

One day, the girl vanished without a trace.

The child cried, and cried, and cried, but there was nobody there to hear it, nobody to comfort her.

So eventually, she stopped crying.

Noelle was hanging up lights throughout the living room, the party started tomorrow, so most people would probably think decorating for a party the day before would be quite weird, however the Holiday residence was decorated for Christmas pretty much year round, so only a couple of things were really needed to bring the good “Party Vibes (™)”.

As Noelle headed back down the ladder to move the ladder to another part of the living room, she let her mind wander (keeping enough focus on what she was doing on what she was doing to make sure she didn’t hurt herself, of course) to the party itself. In all honesty, she was quite excited for it, practically everybody she knew would be there, even Susie (which she was both excited and nervous about, her mom still didn’t really Susie all that much). Heck, even Kris and Berdly would be there, even though they aren’t typically party people. (She just realized that this would probably be their first major outing since they got together a week ago.) Everything would be perfect!

Although there would be one thing that would be wrong with the party. There would be one major absence at the party, one that no matter how hard she tried, she can’t get her mind off of.

She would have really enjoyed the party. She probably would have given Noelle a nudge to go over to Susie while she distracted their mom for a little bit.

Everything did just seem to change when she disappeared, didn’t it. In all honesty, it was probably why they still had all these decorations, it was probably why her mother became so cold…

Noelle decided to try and put 100% of her mind to focusing on everything but her. Continuing down this train of thought would only result in bad things. Besides, there are many better things to think about. She could be thinking about how much fun she and her friends will have, besides it would be somewhat of a double date, wouldn’t it? Things like all that were all she needed to think about, she just needed to think on the bright side.

(To her chagrin, no matter how hard Noelle tried, she was still on the back of her mind.)

After a long day of working, everything was prepped for the party tomorrow. Heading up to her room to probably sleep until the party (for some reason, she felt drop dead tired, she didn’t really do that much work, all things considered), she freezed just outside her door, her mind beginning to wander to another door just a little further down the hall…

Pushing those thoughts from her mind, she opened the door, walked into her room, and crashed right onto her bed (if she were in a cartoon, there probably would’ve been a splat sound when she did that).

As soon as she adjusted to a more comfortable position, she closed her eyes, and was out like a light. Her mind seemed to be so pre-occupied with the party that it even went into her dreams, but that made some sort of sense.

Tomorrow was a big day after all.
