Argenti dreams of it, sometimes. The flash of cameras, the harsh lights, the soft scrape of ice under his blades. The weight of the medal around his neck. In his dreams he’s at the top of the podium. In his dreams, he lands that jump. In his dreams, he does media interviews, gives autographs, competes again and again and again, getting better and better, closer to the greats of their time.
When he wakes up, it takes him a moment to greet reality. He basks in the glow of success for a moment before the grief kicks in and the daily aches of his body catch up to him. His ankle and knee complain, but he ignores them, swinging his feet to the ground.
