Work Text:

Avery cant help but slam his keyboard down in anger as he saw the 'You Died!' screen mocking him. He felt sick. He felt so, unbelievably hurt. His eyes welled with tears as he let out a sob, arms folding on his desk as he let out a gutteral "Fuck!" from the bottom of his heart. It only took him a few moments to try and regain himself, rubbing his eyes before he had formulated a plan. He refreshed the forum he had posted over and over until he saw the newly uploaded file, clicking to the end desperately. His hands were shaking as he tried to focus, the big booms of fireworks throwing him off slightly as his hands shook as he then tried to get Derek's IP from a sketchy website. He didn't even care about getting a virus, sniffling as he pasted the link hastily into the search bar of the website. Seconds felt like hours as it finally generated something, and pasting the IP into another lookup bar.. He found it.

An address. Dereks. He hoped to god it was, because it was only a measly 30 minutes. He practically pushed his chair to the floor as he ran, grabbing his keys.

His heart screamed at him as he threw himself in the car, tears blurring his vision as he fumbled the keys into the slot before turning it roughly. If he didn't get there in time at least Derek wouldn't be alone. He didn't want him to be alone. He knew how that felt.

Minutes were counted in his head as he sniffled, wiping his eyes every now and then. Avery got there in 10 minutes and around 32 seconds, as he barely parked correctly, scrambling to get inside and up the flight of stairs. Shit. He didn't know what apartment he was in. He jiggled some of the handles, hoping or praying that maybe the door would be unlocked.

He stopped, though, at door 33. 3. Like D3rlord3. His heart pounds as he knocks hard, trying to listen for anything inside of there. He was for sure disturbing people's parties and whatnot at this time, but he didn't care.

"Derek! Please, please open the door! Or.. Or if your not, just.. Just please tell me! If you don't say anything, I'll.." He swallowed, before gaining confidence again. "I'll bust the door down. So.. So please." His voice was a bit wobbly, before he laughed. "This is so stupid.. I.." He shut his eyes, dragging his hands down his face. "I don't even know you. And here I am.. standing outside your.. Or-whoevers door.. trying to find you."

He breathed in, clenching his fists. Anger welled in his body before he, albeit accidentally, kicked the door in. Oops. However that did solve the mystery.

The apartment was a bit barren, heart pounding as he slowly walked in. Nothing screamed that it was the guy he was looking for, before he spots a small collection of swords and helmets, some pictures of olden guys Avery didn't even remember the name of.

This had to be him. He rushed to check the other rooms, before opening the door to the bedroom.

To say the smell wasn't pleasant was an understatement, but he didn't care. He practically lunges for the chair infront of him, spinning it around. There.

"Avery." Derek.

"I found you."

"You did. Again." His voice sounded far too weak, but he couldn't blame him. Avery looked into his eyes. Yellow. They bled and bled and bled into the back of his mind, staining there.

"What do I.. How do I save you?" His hands were raised slightly over the very obviously malnourished guy infront of him, hesitant and shaking. "How do I fix this?"
