Wonderland is Twisted

Summary:

Playing ‘Twisted Wonderland’ might have been the greatest thing I have done these past few years. It certainly has its interesting premise. But, sometimes I have wondered what I would do if I was in the game.

I shouldn't have jinxed it.

I just played it one night to do the event mission. I slept with my phone on while the game is still playing its ingame sound—only for me to find that I'm stuck in the world of Twisted Wonderland.

The craziest thing is…I'm not Yuu. There's already a Yuu in this world.

Chapter 1: How Did Everything Get Twisted?

Chapter Text

A few days ago, I went out shopping for groceries. Not that I wanted to. But I was forced to. I'm just not in the best mood at all—I just wanted to play Twisted Wonderland!

While going home, I happened to meet my next door neighbor—also going home on her own. She is older than me—like about 10 years of my age but we get along well.

“Good afternoon, ___” She greeted, when she noticed me.

“Good afternoon too.!” I almost stuttered.

One reason we get along is that… “Are you still struggling finishing Book 6?” is that she also plays Twisted Wonderland—and has been playing it before me.

I scratched my head, “...Yeah,”

“You'll finish it eventually!”

We both got to our homes. Finished with my task I went back to my phone and clicked Twisted Wonderland. I can finally play!

The familiar loading screen appeared, the music playing softly through my speakers. I stretched on my bed, letting out a long sigh.

“Finally…”

I tapped through the menus quickly, collecting rewards, checking missions—routine stuff. My eyes were already starting to feel heavy, but I didn’t want to stop just yet.

“Just one more task… I’ll sleep after this.”

The event page opened, bright and colorful as always. I tapped through the dialogue without thinking much about it, too focused on finishing the mission.

The voices echoed faintly.

Strangely… louder than usual.

“…Huh?”

The sound didn’t feel like it was coming from my phone anymore. It felt… closer. Surrounding me.

I shook my head. “I’m just sleepy…”

Still, I didn’t exit the game. I set my phone beside me, the in-game music continuing to play. My eyes slowly closed.

The last thing I heard was—

“—Welcome.”
