“I dieeeed!!”
Looking at the game over screen with tears in her eyes the auburn haired young girl gritted her teeth as her body started to shake in anger. “Argh! Why does Dad have this stupid game? It's way too hard.”
“Didn’t you ask your father to buy you Final Fantasy X?” Her so-called friend spoke up as he silently watched her play and did nothing to help her with this stupid boss.
Turning to them with murder in her eyes. “How dare you!” She leaped from her on the floor and directly onto him and then she proceeded to wallop the boy with harmless punches. “Take that and that and one of these!”
“Oh.” Stopping their little brawl the two children felt a chill run down their spines as they turned to look above them and as always their eyes were instantly drawn into the deep black pits belonging to… Her. “Now Sumire, you know you can't play rough with your little friend after all you might wake up Yuji with all this noise and you wanna be a good big sister right?”
Getting off from the boy, Sumire stood up and kept her eyes to the ground as she nodded her head. “Yes mother.” With her eyes still low Sumire’s body shifted as she felt her mothers hand caress her head.
“Wonderful.” Sumire’s mother said as she smiled down at the sight of her sniveling daughter. “I know, you’ll be the perfect older sibling.”
“Gyah!!” Falling out of her bed the now eighteen year old Sumire rubbed her aching head as she began to pull herself off the floor. “Oh man that hurt.” Rubbering her aching bum the teenager looked at her window and noticed that it was still pitch black outside. “Alright, looks like I still have some time before I head off to work and since it looks like I’m not getting any sleep.” Popping open her door the girl immediately rushed over to the kitchen. “It’s time for a late snack!” Grabbing a bag of chips and a soda, Sumire headed off to her next designation: the living room. “And some late night t-YUJI!”
Was sprawled out on the couch with a blue blanket placed over him, her younger brother slept peacefully ignorant to the rage building up in his sister’s body. Placing down her Doritos and Dew, the auburn haired girl took a deep breath as she gripped the edge of the blanket her brother cocconed himself into and. “GET OFF THE COUCH!!” Proceeded to let it rip as she tore the blanket right off Yuji with such force that he not only woke up but began to spin in midair like a top.
“EHHHH!!” The fifteen year old yelled out in shock before hitting the floor hard. “I-i think I landed on my funny bone.” Using the couch as leverage, Yuji stood up on shaky legs as he glared at Sumire. “What was that for?!”
“Hmph.” Crossing her arms over her pink sweatshirt the girl glared back twice as hard. “Well for starters young man it’s.” Pausing to look at the clock placed in the living room. “3’o clock in the morning on a school night and you should be in bed not sleeping on the couch!”
“Ah.” Rubbing the back of his head sheepishly, the teen turned his head to avoid his sister’s gaze as he started to sweat in fear. ‘If she finds out I stayed up late to binge Human Earthworm I’m dead.’
“You were bingeing the Human Earthworm movies weren’t you?”
“Gyah!” Taking a step back in fear, Yuji hugged himself as he looked at Sumire with fear in his eyes. “H-how did you know?!”
Grinning at the look plastered on her little brother's face the older Itadori let out a haughty laugh. “Simple little brother.” Pointing at herself with a confident look. “It was a big sister’s instinct but more importantly.” Grabbing the remote and turning the tv on. “I also wanted to watch it and I can’t believe you did it without me!”
“Uh?” Completely baffled by his sister’s words, Yuji felt his brain short circuit as he struggled to comprehend what he just heard.
Seeing the look of surprise on Yuji’s face, Sumire let out a laugh. “Why are you surprised after all I’m the one who got you into Earthworm you idiot of a little brother?”
“Oh.” With his confusion starting to fade away the teen nodded his head at his sister’s words. “Oh yeah that is true I guess. So wait a minute you’re not mad at me for staying up late?”
“OF COURSE I’M MAD AT YOU FOR THAT IDIOT!” Bonking him on the head with the remote cause her own hand will hurt worse if she even touches that iron dome of his. “Since Gramps is in the hospital right now that means I gotta make sure you get a proper education and that means making sure you get enough sleep so you can make it to school on time.”
“Oh come on sis can you really be bad at wittle ol’ me?” Puckering his lips and hoping the light of the tv caught his eyes Yuji tried to use the old puppy dog eye trick on his big sister.
“Ack!” And work it did as Sumire covered her eyes and turned away from the look. “I can’t believe you would use that on me! You know your older sister is weak to your puppy dog eyes!” Feeling sweat drip her face the girl let out a scream of frustration at her current predicament. “Gah! Why did Kami make you so adorable in my eyes? Alright, I’ll forgive you for staying up late.”
“Yahoo!” Yuji cheered as he jumped up and down in celebration.
“But.” Falling down mid jump, the fear Yuji felt earlier came back with a vengeance as he looked at his sister’s sinister smile. “You have to watch Human Earthworm with me.” Laughing at her brother’s surprised look, Sumire sat down on the couch and was soon joined by Yuji as she pulled up the movie on Netflix.
Grabbing her bag of Dorito's from the table, Sumire ripped them open with the ferocity of a starving animal much to Yuji’s amusement as he then dug his grubby paws into the bag ignoring her protest. However despite this the siblings simply laughed as they enjoyed the movie not knowing that this would be the last time they would truly be able to relax.
