Summary
Petunia Evans is trying to live her best life in spite of being herself, when her sister moves back home to plan her wedding to James Potter and overshadow Petunia at every given opportunity. Though dating a junior executive who works for her boss, Petunia fears, as her boss candidly points out one summer evening, that Vernon will make her unhappy until death do they part. Trying to claw back anything to hold over her sister, Petunia hatches a plot when she meets Severus Snape on a bridge returning from the train station one night: break up Lily and her fiance and have her marry Severus instead, all so Lily won't marry before her and Petunia can lord her amazing life over her once Lily's miserable and married to Severus. Though loathing Petunia on principle, Severus agrees the best thing for Lily is to get her away from Potter--and out of the line of fire in the quickly escalating Wizarding War. Together, they put aside their differences for a common cause; one hoping to ruin Lily, and the other trying to save her, as Petunia further plots how to make the most of her life instead of merely making do as she's expected.
