⇏Log 842: First meeting with Ladybug
The night was quiet, which for a back-alley clinic isn’t new, especially with the former doc’s reputation for dodgy cybernetic. But me and Rose have started to build up a nice number of returning customers… Most are the no questions asked type but getting to help people is better than using my skills helping some rich snob remind people of their status. But suddenly the night grew wild as two unknown mercenaries burst into the clinic.
One was very short with fiery pinkish red hair, just from a quick glance I could see she had a lot of work done. Her eyes were the latest optic implants and right arm was fully converted into a very clear homemade blaster/ mantis blade combo. Kagami would drool to see a rig like this.
The other mercenary was clear the cause for the shorter one's distress as she looked pale from the dipping wound on her side. She had been shot! Before I could take a look at the other merc, I rushed her into the operating room. All my training has taught me the need to act quick as every second they keep losing blood is another step closer to the black wall.
The rest of that night was a blur, but somehow I saved her. Seeing her rest peacefully on my table, I couldn’t help but find her cute. I quickly packed away that thought, no point growing attached to mercs, one day they can be here, the next you read their name in the paper. Rose found that out the hard way.
But enough talk about this. As I went to check on the mysterious merc and finally check on their implants like any doctor should… she was gone! All that was left on the table where she slept was a bag of credits and a note.
“Thank you cutie. Ladybug.” Oh my god I just saved Ladybug.
⇏Log 932: Second encounter of the awkward kind
It was quite awhile before I saw Ladybug and her teammate Bunnyx again. Rose used it as a point of pride that the famous merc of Night-Paris had graced her presents in our clinic. I don’t know how many people actually believed her, but we both knew the truth and that all that mattered to me. I won’t lie, every night I’m plagued by visions of Ladybug and her modified body… can’t believe I’m 31 and I’ve got a schoolgirl crush on a dashing rouge.
So that made our second encounter all the more awkward when I entered the operating room to find her sitting in the chair. Rose had told me that the client was a walk-in and just needed a few check ups. But to think it was Ladybug! Seeing her again made me realise just how tall she was! I would have at least made myself more presentable… Urgh this is why I hate romance. But back to that moment, I was as professional as possible with her, but that all dropped the moment she showed me her enhancement.
Never before had I seen gorilla arms meshed together with monowire that seemed to be further modified to have yoyo like ends which was a trademark of Ladybug. But to see them in person was a whole different beast, plus added to that her muscles and tattoos… I may have stared for a bit too long.
“Hey cutie… I’ll let you stare for as long as you want after the check up.” My face turned a new shade of red at that line, I swear she did it on purpose? But like she promised I got to check out her rig in full and damn is she a goddess. I still remember her parting words. “See you soon doc.”
⇏Log 943: I swear she doing it on purpose
She was here today! Like she said she would! Sorry, just a lot to take in. So today started like an ordinary day, patched up a few people, reprogrammed a rogue AI and once more shot down Rose's attempts to mess with my love life. But just as I was about to go on lunch, she appeared. This time she was alone, which is a surprise but not unwelcome.
“Oh you're going on lunch break?” She said to me almost caught off guard by the fact I could leave the clinic. What she said next caused me to go weak at the knees. “Do you mind if I join you?” My stupid mouth moved faster than my brain as I said yes. Sadly I can’t go into detail about the lunch encounter as this log has a word limit that I would easily break, but the short story is that Ladybug is surprisingly more dorky than all the stories say.
But that also makes her feel more human, like beneath all the scars and cybernetic parts is a girl who likes mushy love stories and has a laugh that is adorable and dorky. God I have it so bad for her and to make things worse Rose saw us leaving and now is shipping us… god help me. But it will never work, sure we can have cute little moments together, but she’s a mercenary and I’m just a back alley doctor.
She’s going places… I’m just stuck here… But it’s funny because what does she see in me? For her to say this as we parted after lunch. “Next time I’ll treat you to something much sweeter!” God I have it bad for her.
⇏Log 955: At death’s door
So much blood. So much blood. She was so pale and lifeless, for a single moment I believed she was dead. But the weak coughs and faint hint of smiles shows that she was barely holding on for her life.
Her whole crew rushed into the Clinic. Most of them were pretty worse for wear, Bunnyx was missing an eye, Rena (She was the team’s hacker) had been fried pretty badly… She didn’t last the night and lastly Ladybug was beaten to a pulp, she was missing one of her arms and had an opening the size of a watermelon in her stomach. She was lucky her cybernetic implants were running overtime as she would have joined Rena that night.
I spent all night patching her up and watching her. Bunnyx and Rose kept giving me the supplies I needed and the support to not break down. But it was tough… If she would have come any later then she would be dead. But by some miracle she survived… I didn’t lose her.
After she had finally stabilised I left to go check on Bunnyx, during the patch up she told me how the group had planned to raid an Agreste safehouse, but were shocked to find it was heavily guarded. The rest of the tale was too graphic for me to write down, but this just serves as a reminder of the darker side of Night-Paris.
I can’t believe this idiot… Yet why can’t I be mad at her? She almost died! Yet all I can think about is walking in to see her face, peaceful and resting… And kissing it! What is wrong with me?
⇏Log 999: The start of something Miraculous
It was a while before I saw Ladybug again after that night. She and Bunnyx left as soon as she was able, both saying they had to deal with Rena’s loss.
For a month I heard nothing from them. Every night I watched the news and hoped they didn’t report on Ladybug’s death. But thankfully it never happened and eventually I started to move on with my life at the clinic. But like always she appeared right when I least expected it to happen.
There she was, Ladybug sitting in my operating room. She had a new arm and new scars, but that didn’t make her any less attractive in my eyes. “Hi cutie, sorry about going MIA. But I need to sort out my affair before coming back here.” Ladybug said with a smile, she then told me how she decided to move on from the city, how Rena’s death reminded her that there are things worth more than frame and fortune.
She told me of her plan to flee the city with Bunnyx… But here is the part that stunned me. She asked if I could join her! She talked about how she grew to like my company and how she would do anything to repay the debt of saving her life. My mouth once again worked faster than my brain as I asked for a kiss and was met without a moment of hesitation.
“There's plenty more of that on the road.” Ladybug smiled as I knew this was going to be the beginning of something miraculous.
