“James, as politely as I can put this, why in the fuck am I listed as your emergency contact?”
“You’re the detective, Sherlock, figure it out yourself.” James stared at Sherlock from where he was sitting on the hospital bed, with a smattering of scrapes across his left arm and a cut on the side of his head.
The nurse treating James found herself in the middle of a standoff, while the two men stared each other down, having a non verbal conversation within the span of 5 seconds.
Finally, Sherlock broke eye contact and asked “What did you even do this time?”
“I didn’t do anything. It’s not like I asked a car to hit me”
Or:
Sherlock and James are roommates in university, but for some inexplicable reason (very explicable), James has listed Sherlock as his only emergency contact. This is a story about showing up for your best friend while also, slowly, falling in love with them.
