Work Text:
3rd of December. Coiny ran around holding Snowball’s hand, making him run after him. Finally making it to his destination, he pointed to a specific place. Elbowing Snowball’s arm to make him look at where he was pointing.
Snowball looked over to see a beautiful view of a snow-covered Goiky City, and everyone else below them, so tiny. Snowball sucked in a small breath at the sight of the view.
“It’s beautiful isn’t it?” Coiny asked, smiling at him. Snowball looked at him, perfectly illuminated by the sun. He blushed, staring at the perfect image in front of him. The world seemed to have slowed down. Just for them. “Yeah. It is.”
Coiny led Snowball to the edge. Sitting him down next to him. Snowball stared at the hand that held his. Looking at the smiling man next to him. He looked so breath-taking. It was just them. Alone. It felt nice.
“I haven’t told anyone else about this place!” Coiny exclaimed. Snowball blushed a bit harder. He’s the first to know of it. His heart beat faster. “Cool.”
Coiny smiled at him. “Wanna make this our secret little spot?” He winked at Snowball. Snowball’s heart beat even faster. The world stopped. He nodded. Their spot. Nobody else would know of it. They pinkie swore they wouldn’t tell anyone about this spot.
Snowball smiled. That would be great. Coiny scooted closer, wrapping his arm around Snowball. Their friendship bracelets made small noises as they moved. Snowball hoped that this moment would last forever.
------------------------------------------------------------
Snowball and Coiny were walking together. Coiny was the one doing most of the talking, but hey, none of them really minded. Snowball liked hearing Coiny talk and Coiny liked the fact that Snowball listened.
Snowball loved walking with Coiny. He’d tell Snowball about his day and anything else. And Snowball would listen. He loved hearing about Coiny’s day, something that made him laugh, he just loved hearing Coiny talk about something in his life.
It made him feel like Coiny trusted him enough. Thought he was good enough to talk to him about anything. It made Snowball feel something. Something he’s never felt before. And he loved it.
They laughed at something Coiny said, frowned at something stupid, and smiled. Snowball used reactions to show Coiny he was listening. He assumed that’s what Coiny thought and that it was why he kept going.
Coiny idly wrapped his arm around Snowball’s waist area. Coiny kept talking, either he wasn’t paying attention when he did that or he thought it’d be fine. It didn’t matter which one it was, it still made Snowball blush.
He liked the feeling of Coiny’s arm around him. It was warm and felt nice. Coiny kept talking and Snowball kept listening. It was comfortable, not awkward, just peaceful.
Snowball smiled as he listened to Coiny, letting him lead the way. Idly he wrapped his arm around Coiny’s shoulder.
Coiny stopped talking for a bit and looked at him. Leaning a bit against Snowball, still walking, he kept talking.
------------------------------------------------------------
Snowball sat at the edge of the cliff. Holding the friendship bracelet Coiny gave to him. He still remembered the smile Coiny had when he wore it. He was so happy. It made his heart feel fluttery inside.
But Coiny didn’t wear it anymore. Coiny didn’t hang out with Snowball much anymore either. He’s always with Pin. The mere mention of her name hurt Snowball’s heart.
He still remembered when Coiny showed him this cliff. He was the first one he told about this cliff. It felt nice to be chosen first by him. It made Snowball all.. Warm inside. He liked the feeling.
Then he told Pin. Coiny didn’t tell him that. He found out for himself. When he went there he saw Coiny sitting at the edge of the cliff. With her. Snowball stared at them for a good amount of time before he ran away. Into the woods, obscured by everyone else.
He couldn’t help but cry. Snowball thought it was his and Coiny’s secret hangout spot.. No one else was supposed to know about it.
There he sat, he missed Coiny. He wanted him back. But Pin’s got him mesmerized. While he stopped existing to Coiny. He would reach out and get ignored by him. He would hang out with Coiny but in the end he would leave him for Pin.
Even then Snowball could see his eyes as Pin walked by. He would stop their hang outs just to go back to her. He always seemed bored, or even agitated whenever he hung out with Snowball. It hurt. To know Coiny didn’t want to hang out with him.
Coiny gave Pin a different friendship bracelet for her. He wore the friendship bracelet for him and Pin. He never wore his and Snowball’s again. He hasn’t seen it in forever.
Snowball knew he never should’ve let his hopes up. That Coiny would love him back. But why would he? He wasn’t as.. Great as Pin. He wasn’t half as pretty as Pin. To Coiny’s standards. Why would he ever want to date him, let alone kiss him.
He let his hopes get too high, now they’ve plummeted down, breaking as it landed. Coiny likes Pin more. Of course he did. Pin’s so much better than him. Fuck he was foolish to believe Coiny would ever be with him.
Sometimes he wished, wished so badly to be her. To be Pin. Just so he could be with Coiny. He’d change everything about himself. To get Coiny to love him back.
Biting his lip, he choked back a sob. The tears pricked the corner of his eyes. Just threatening to spill. He can’t cry about this. Not now.
He hated this. This stupid feeling. Loving Coiny, feeling the pain of him not loving him back.
Fuck, fuck, fuck, he started crying. He couldn’t stop the flow. It was on the brink and it finally broke. He tried to muffle his sobs, succeeding with quiet cries.
He just wanted Coiny back. So badly. He wanted Coiny to be his friend again, to want to hang out with him again, to like him again. He wished Coiny to come over and talk with him, like they did before. And he’d listen.
He wiped the tears from his face, although never able to fully wipe them away, new ones flowing down by the second.
He wished so badly that Coiny would love him back, he knew it was impossible. But he couldn’t help but wish. Wish that Coiny would run into his arms and confess his love to him. The chances of it being zero but Snowball didn’t care. He just wanted to pretend.
Pretend that Coiny loved him, even if it made him cry more. He just wanted Coiny.
------------------------------------------------------------
Snowball sat near his bros, Eraser, Pen, and Blocky. They knew he loved Coiny. They’ve been doing their best to cheer him up. But with every attempt, hope of cheering him up lessened.
As they plot their next attempt they don't notice Coiny and Pin walking down the road near them. Snowball could see Coiny’s arm wrapped around Pin’s waist area. Coiny talked to Pin about his day and everything else while she listened. Just like how Snowball did with Coiny on their walks.
He couldn’t help but stare. They didn’t notice, Coiny kept talking to Pin, who cut him off every so often. Snowball never would’ve done that to Coiny. Coiny seemed so happy. He wasn’t this happy when they had their walks.. Snowball felt cold, although physically he was always cold he felt cold mentally.
Coiny seemed like he didn’t care at all. Snowball’s heart broke, splintered to pieces. He felt cold and dead inside. Watching them walk away.
Snowball wanted to hate Pin so badly for stealing Coiny away from him. But he couldn’t. She hasn’t done anything wrong. It wasn’t her fault Coiny started liking her more.
But then again it kind of was. It was how she was, how she acted, how she looked, everything that attracted Coiny toward her. He couldn’t help but want her dead. Despite not really doing anything Snowball wanted Pin dead for taking Coiny from him.
When they were finally out of sight, Snowball brought his legs to his chest, wrapping his arms around it, burying his head in it. He tried so hard not to cry, biting harshly on his lips until he couldn’t. The streaks of tears falling down his snowy face. Quietly weeping as the one he loved was taken from him.
Pen had noticed them not long after Snowball. Eraser and Blocky noticed just before they left. They frowned at Coiny’s audacity before getting closer to Snowball.
They hugged him as a form of comfort. It only made Snowball feel even worse. He didn’t want them to comfort him; it made him feel weaker than how he already felt. Pushing them off him, he ran away.
He didn’t listen to the shouts and exclaims from his bros. He just wanted to get away. From them, from everyone, from Coiny.
Running into the forest and sitting against a tree, he just let himself cry. Cry to his heart’s content, cry till he couldn’t anymore. Breaths coming in shudders, coughing bits between his breathing.
Snowball looked up. At the leaves above him, he closed his eyes. He’ll just stay here for a bit. To get away from everyone else. He didn’t need them comforting him. He can’t even hold himself together, he doesn’t need anyone else to see him cry.
Especially not.. Coiny.
