On the way out from Victor’s Hollow, the travelers found a dog. After Alfyn and Ophilia had healed him, he was content to stay with them, with the name of “Scruffles”.
“Scruffles has been following us for a while now, right?” Primrose said.
“Kind of.” Alfyn agreed, “He comes along in the daytime, but wanders off at night. I guess he’s still a wild dog at heart.”
“Is he part of the party, then?” Tressa asked, picking up Scruffles. He was still a pretty little dog, barely grown out of being a puppy.
“I suppose so.” Olberic said, “Although we can hardly say that when he leaves as often as he does.”
“He can be an honorary member, then!” Tressa said, booping the dog’s nose. Scruffles barked happily.
“Indeede. Such a majestic beast as Scruffles shouldn’t have to be tied down.”
“If that’s your opinion, then what about Linde?” Cyrus asked. H’aanit stroked Linde’s fur, and Linde purred loudly.
“Linde hasen nothing that forces her to staye with me, and I with her. But we have been companions since childhood. Neither of us will abandone each other.”
“That’s lovely, H’aanit.” Ophilia said.
“It is decided, then.” Olberic said. “Scruffles shall become an honorary member of the party.”
